00:12inaugurated by the Honorable Prime Minister of India,
00:15Sri Narendra Modi, on 9th January.
00:19Her Excellency, Christian Karla Kangalu,
00:22the President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago,
00:25was the chief guest of the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas.
00:29She addressed the convention virtually.
00:33Prime Minister remotely flagged off
00:36the inaugural journey of the special tourist
00:39train for the Indian diaspora, Pravasi Bharatiya Express,
00:44which left for Delhi on that day for travel
00:47to multiple destinations of touristic and religious
00:50importance in India for a period of three weeks.
00:55Addressing the convention, the Honorable Prime Minister
00:58observed that the Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas has
01:01become an institution to strengthen the bond
01:04between India and its diaspora.
01:06The Prime Minister emphasized that he was always
01:09considered the Indian diaspora as ambassadors of India.
01:14Expressing his joy in meeting and conversing
01:17with fellow Indians around the world,
01:19he said that the love and blessings he received from them
01:23were unforgettable and always stayed with him.
01:26He mentioned that the 21st century India
01:29was progressing at an incredible speed and scale.
01:34He conveyed that today's India not only firmly asserted
01:38its own point, but also strongly amplified
01:42the voice of the global South.
01:44Prime Minister mentioned that India
01:47has the potential to fulfill the world's demand for skilled
01:51talent.
01:52He assured that the government of India
01:54considered it a responsibility to help our diaspora
01:59during crisis situation, no matter where they were.
02:04He highlighted the significant history of the Indian diaspora
02:08worldwide, emphasizing their achievements
02:11in various countries as an important part of India's
02:14heritage.
02:15He urged that these interesting and inspiring stories
02:19should be shared, showcased, and preserved
02:23as part of our shared legacy and heritage,
02:26as has been done in the case of Oman.

02:32has been put up during the PVD.
02:36He also emphasized the need to undertake similar efforts
02:40with the diaspora in various other countries.
02:43Prime Minister also reiterated his Chalo India tourism
02:47campaign for the diaspora, encouraging each of them
02:51to visit India with five foreign friends.
02:55He emphasized the goal of making India a developed nation
02:58by 2047, and highlighted the importance of the gift city
03:04ecosystem in meeting the financial services
03:07and investment needs of the diaspora,
03:10and encouraged them to leverage its benefits
03:13to strengthen India's journey towards development.
03:18Following his address, the prime minister
03:20inaugurated four exhibitions, Vishwaroop Ram,
03:24the Universal Legacy of Ramayana.
03:27Second, the Diaspora's Contribution to Technology
03:30and Vixit Bharat.
03:32Third, Spread and Evolution of Indian Diaspora
03:35in the World with Special Focus on Manvi to Muscat,
03:39and the Heritage and Culture of Orissa,
03:42which was the fourth exhibition.
03:44There are also several promotional stalls set up
03:47by ministries and departments of the government of India,
03:51the state government of Orissa, and other state governments
03:55to present their developmental efforts in India's march
03:59towards a Vixit Bharat.
04:03On the afternoon of the 9th of January,
04:06the second plenary session focused on migration,
04:10and it was titled, Building Bridges, Breaking Barriers,
04:13Stories of Migrant Scales.
04:16It was chaired by the Honorable Minister of State
04:19for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises
04:21and Labor and Employment, Sushri Shobha Karantlaje,
04:26and moderated by the Special Secretary for Economic Relations
04:29in the Ministry of External Affairs, Sripi Kumaran.
04:33It was followed by the third plenary session,
04:35which focused on green energy and was titled,
04:38Green Connections, Diaspora's Contributions
04:41to Sustainable Development.
04:43It was chaired by the Honorable Minister of Electronics
04:45and Information Technology, Information and Broadcasting,
04:49and Railways, Ashwini Vaishnav, and moderated
04:53by the Chairman and Managing Director of Indian Renewable
04:56Energy Development Agency, Sripadeep Kumar Das.
