00:30In the 9th day of Saptak, today in the 2nd Satra,
00:35the vocal artists Ritesh Mishra ji and Radnish Mishra ji did a great job.
00:40Whether it is Banaras Gharana or Qabalnau, it should not be like this.
00:43And for generations, the song of Banaras Gharana is sung there.
00:49And with every sweet note, wherever they go, they liberate the listeners.
00:54Let's talk to two talented artists of Rajan Mishra's family.
01:02Panditji, first tell us about yourself.
01:04And tell us the speciality of Banaras Gharana in vocal.
01:09Namaskar, I am Ritesh Mishra.
01:11And it is my good fortune that I have a connection with Banaras Gharana.
01:18And in our family, this tradition of music has been going on for more than 400 years.
01:26And both of us are artists of the 6th generation in our family.
01:31Our father and uncle, Padma Bhushan,
01:35Swarga Pandit Rajan Mishra ji, Pandit Sajan Mishra ji,
01:39have been and are our gurus.
01:42And we have also learnt music from our grandfather, Pandit Hanuman Prasad Mishra ji.
01:47So it is our good fortune that we belong to such a family and such a legacy.
01:54And Banaras is the oldest city in the world.
01:59So the older the city, the older is its tradition of music.
02:04Pandit Ritesh Mishra ji, you both sing together.
02:10You follow the tradition of your father and uncle.
02:14So what is different from the tradition of your father and uncle?
02:19Look, we cannot do anything different from their tradition.
02:23Only our thinking is different.
02:25The path they have shown us, we have to follow that path.
02:28And for any disciple, we are fortunate that we are their sons.
02:33But we are the disciples first.
02:35So as a student, we have to follow the path they have shown us.
02:41But our guru has always taught us that
02:45I am teaching you, but you have to follow the path I have shown you.
02:51Mishra ji, what is the importance of vocals in Indian classical music?
02:57And is there any problem with that?
03:00No, there is no such problem.
03:04Whether it is singing, or singing, or dancing,
03:09all these three methods have been part of our Indian classical music tradition.
03:17And people all over the world are aware of it.
03:21Many programs are taking place.
03:23The biggest festival is Saptak.
03:26So if the music of Saptak is getting very dry,
03:34then the program that Saptak has been doing for so many years,
03:38would not have been happening.
03:40And the audience is coming in huge numbers.
03:42So this is a great blessing.
03:56Om Namah Shivaya
