Kalikasan People's Network for the Environment (Kalikasan PNE), along with civil society groups, staged a protest outside the Court of Appeals as environmental advocate Eco Dangla testified in his petitions for a Writ of Amparo and Habeas Data on Friday, Jan. 10.
Supporters called on the court to issue a permanent protection order, emphasizing the need for justice and the safeguarding of environmental defenders. Last year, Dangla and fellow activist Joxelle Tiong, both vocal critics of black sand mining, an incinerator project, and a nuclear power plant in Pangasinan, were abducted.
