Spanish coast guards rescued on Thursday January 9, 85 migrants that were 7 miles off the Canary Islands.

The islands have hit an all-time annual high for a second year in a row with 46,843 arrivals in 2024. A baby boy was also born on the dinghy as Spain’s rescue services stated that the mother and baby were both in good health.

A total of 60 people were on board, including 14 women and 4 children.
