00:00I was born in East Africa, just near National Park, the backyard literally was our home
00:15and the National Park there.
00:17In the evenings we used to hear elephants calling out and lions calling out to each
00:21other and things like that.
00:22This was some distance away from a place called Machakos and then later on we shifted closer
00:27to Nairobi.
00:28But even there was a National Park right next to where my dad used to take us out for a
00:32long spin in the jungle and that's where the love and the intimacy with nature began and
00:39there's a lot of respect, reverence.
00:42We were taught not to be afraid of animals because they had their own world and own space.
00:46They liked to live in the jungles while we lived in our own homes and what I call concrete
00:51jungles now.
00:53But there was a balance and equilibrium that was so important.
00:57Mangroves.
01:27Thank you so much.
01:57You're welcome.
