More than 500 aftershocks following Tibet earthquake as rescue efforts get underway

Hundreds of people were rescued from rubble after a 7.1 magnitude earthquake shook Tibet on Tuesday.

00:20trapped under the rubble were rescued. However, the number of people still unaccounted for

00:46Tents, quilts and other relief items were sent to provide shelter. Areas around the

00:50epicenter of Tuesday's quake have an average altitude of 4,200 meters and so temperatures

00:56fell well below freezing overnight.
