00:00In the midst of a cold climate, the health department is warning to be careful of various respiratory conditions.

00:09According to the DOH, the number of cases of allergy or respiratory infections due to influenza-like illnesses is increasing.

00:21Even though the number of cases remaining at 17%, which is lower than the number of cases at 179,227 as of December 31,

00:33will increase due to respiratory etiquette, such as covering your mouth whenever you cough and washing your hands.

00:44The WHO is also monitoring the Human Metamumovirus, or HMPV, in the Disease Outbreak News.

00:57The number of cases in China and other countries in the Northern Hemisphere is increasing.

01:03China has clearly said to the WHO that its health care system remains fine and there is no emergency declaration happening.

01:14The Human Metamumovirus is not a new disease.

01:18In the Philippines, HMPV is considered as a part of Panel 2 for negative specimens.

01:24In the Philippines, HMPV is considered as a part of Panel 1 for negative specimens.

01:34Most people infected with HMPV will only have symptoms such as cough, fever, nose and throat.

01:44Rarely severe cases may result in bronchitis or pulmonary disease,

01:49especially in elderly individuals and those with immunocompromised individuals.

01:54Those with pre-existing conditions such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or emphysema

02:00are at a higher risk of developing serious symptoms.
