00:00Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most brutal
00:08demises and double crossings throughout the first two seasons of Squid Game.
00:17Number 10. Min-yo betrays and kills Deok-su.
00:21Min-yo can't seem to find many allies, as she is constantly betrayed throughout the first season.
00:26She seemed to have a solid relationship with Deok-su, but he later betrays her during tug-of-war,
00:31believing that she is too weak for the game.
00:34And that's when she finally snaps, and Min-yo ultimately gets her revenge during the penultimate
00:39game's stepping stones. She wraps her arms tightly around Deok-su, leans back, and takes them both
00:45through a pane of glass to the ground.
00:47Min-yo is finally able to take revenge on Deok-su, but Min-yo can't seem to find any allies.
00:52Min-yo can't seem to find any allies, and Min-yo can't seem to find any enemies.
00:57She wraps her arms tightly around Deok-su,
01:00leans back, and takes them both through a pane of glass to their deaths.
01:04It's not a great way to go, but at least Min-yo went out on her own terms,
01:08while Deok-su went out screaming.
01:10Number 9. The recruiter's death.
01:19Acclaimed Korean actor Kang Yoo briefly appeared in the first season as the recruiter,
01:24challenging a downtrodden Gi-hun to a game of Ddakji.
01:27To everyone's surprise and enjoyment, he reappeared in the second season,
01:31this time challenging Gi-hun to a slightly more dangerous game.
01:42The two play Russian roulette, with each empty click of the gun sending their hearts pounding.
01:47Gi-hun ultimately wins and goads the recruiter into shooting him,
01:50knowing that there is only one shot left.
01:53But the recruiter honorably accepts defeat,
01:56and valuing his principles takes his own life.
02:12Number 8. Min-su plays rock-paper-scissors.
02:24One of the most interesting relationships of season 2 was between Min-su and Sae-mi.
02:28The latter acts as a good friend towards Min-su,
02:31offering up personal tidbits and warning him to stay away from Thanos and his gang.
02:35When Min-su asks Sae-mi what draws her to him,
02:38she replies that he would never betray her.
02:40So anyway, he betrays her during Mingle,
02:44honoring Thanos' request to play rock-paper-scissors,
02:46and manipulating her kind gesture of help.
02:49It is a brutal betrayal before a brutal death.
02:53Sae-mi ultimately succumbs to the riot,
02:55being stabbed in the neck multiple times by a ferocious Nam-gyu.
02:59Gi-hun hires Mr. Kim to find the recruiter,
03:02which he ultimately does alongside Woo-suk.
03:05And despite the fact that it's a small,
03:07but a brutal betrayal,
03:09Mr. Kim still gives Gi-hun a hand in finding the recruiter.
03:12Number seven, Russian roulette with Mr. Kim.
03:23Gi-hun hires Mr. Kim to find the recruiter,
03:25which he ultimately does alongside Woo-seok.
03:28And despite Gi-hun's insistence,
03:30they confront the recruiter.
03:32It does not go well.
03:34He captures them, ties them up,
03:36and forces them to play his new favorite game
03:38of Russian roulette.
03:42The entire scene is enormously tense,
03:45with the music adding a wonderful degree
03:47of malice to the proceedings.
03:49Mr. Kim ultimately sacrifices himself
03:51and is subjected to a brutal yet honorable death.
03:55He cries in fear and resignation,
03:57his final moments on earth being filled with abject terror.
04:01And then the recruiter pulls the trigger.
04:05Number six, the death of Thanos.
04:12The famous rapper was really asking for it.
04:20He had repeatedly confronted Myung-gi throughout the games,
04:23blaming the YouTuber for poor financial advice.
04:25Despite being physically outmatched,
04:27Myung-gi never backs down
04:29and never succumbs to Thanos' pestering.
04:32In fact, he ultimately wins the skirmish
04:34by sending a fork through the rapper's neck.
04:37Yup, the rapper confronts Myung-gi one last time
04:40in the bathroom and nearly chokes him to death,
04:42even going purple in the face like his Marvel role model.
04:46But it's Myung-gi who comes out ahead
04:48thanks to his smuggled fork,
04:49and Thanos dies in a horribly brutal and bloody fashion.
04:57Number five, Captain Park shows his allegiance.
05:06It wasn't exactly the most surprising plot twist,
05:09as many viewers guessed that Captain Park was the mole.
05:12But that doesn't make his climactic betrayal
05:14any less painful.
05:16It's unclear what Park's relationship is with the frontman,
05:19but it's obvious that he is preventing Jun-ho's group
05:22from finding Squid Game Island.
05:33A mercenary catches Park tampering with a drone,
05:36and while he tries dismissing it,
05:38the merc doesn't let it go and confronts Park.
05:41Bad mistake.
05:42Knowing that the jig is up,
05:44Park stabs the man multiple times
05:46before throwing him overboard.
05:48We can't wait to see how the storyline plays out
05:50and how, if at all, Jun-ho uncovers the deception.
06:03Number four, Sang-woo kills Sae-byeok.
06:09Both Gi-hun and Sae-byeok deduce the ruthless nature
06:12of Sang-woo, realizing that he will do anything to win.
06:15Gi-hun even contemplates killing Sang-woo
06:17before he can do the same to them,
06:19but Sae-byeok stops him,
06:21telling him that he is not a murderer.
06:28In a way, it's a sacrifice.
06:30Gi-hun runs to get help for Sae-byeok's wound,
06:33allowing Sang-woo to escape.
06:38Gi-hun then tells Sang-woo to swoop in and kill her.
06:41Not only is it a brutal betrayal from a desperate man,
06:45but it's a brutal death,
06:46with Sang-woo stabbing her in the jugular with a steak knife.
06:55Number three, Sang-woo deceives Ali.
07:04The killing of Sae-byeok, horrible though it is,
07:07is the only way to get Sang-woo to listen to that of Ali.
07:10It helps that Sae-byeok knew that Sang-woo was coming after her,
07:13but Ali did not have that foresight.
07:16He thought that Sang-woo was his friend and teammate.
07:19He was wrong.
07:25Sang-woo convinces Ali that he has figured out a way
07:28to game the game,
07:29and that both of them would make it out alive.
07:32Ecstatic, Ali allows Sang-woo to handle the marbles,
07:36resulting in one of the worst betrayals in the show.
07:39That tear that rolls down Ali's cheek gets us every time.
07:52Number two, the frontman betrays the group.
07:59We knew it could never work out,
08:01but it really hurt when the frontman made his move.
08:04He'd been working alongside Gi-hun and his allies,
08:07having infiltrated the game to prevent the players from leaving
08:09and to commit a little psychological warfare.
08:21He even made Gi-hun believe that he was with him in the climactic uprising.
08:25But of course, his allegiance was always with the games.
08:28He kills the two players he's with,
08:31fakes his death over the walkie,
08:32and shoots Jung-bae while disguised in his frontman outfit.
08:36When will Gi-hun stop trusting player one?

08:59The OG player one,
09:01Il-nam committed the ultimate betrayal by creating the games
09:04and lying to everyone for his own sick amusement.
09:07Il-nam crafted quite a cute little bond with Gi-hun,
09:10and we cried buckets when he did it.
09:13But it's not the end of the world.
09:15Il-nam is now the leader of the O.G.
09:17The O.G. is the O.G.
09:19The O.G. is the O.G.
09:21The O.G. is the O.G.
09:23The O.G. is the O.G.
09:25The O.G. is the O.G.
09:27The O.G. is the O.G.
09:29The O.G. died in the marble game.
09:34So it hurts all the more when we and Gi-hun learn that he was a bad guy all along.
09:39And not just a bad guy,
09:41THE bad guy.
09:43The head honcho.
09:44He's an entirely different person than he was as player one.
09:47Sick, twisted, malicious,
09:49and with a horribly pessimistic view on humanity.
09:53We cried over you Il-nam,
09:54and you have hurt us in ways you couldn't possibly imagine.
09:59Which act or death left you shocked? Let us know in the comments below.
