On January 7, 2025, the Xizang region in Tibet was hit by a second earthquake, measuring 4.5 magnitude, within five hours. Earlier in the day, a 7.1 magnitude quake had struck Dingri County in Xigaze City, leaving at least 53 people dead and 62 injured. Extensive damage was reported, including the collapse of numerous buildings, prompting a large-scale rescue operation. The region remains on high alert with aftershocks continuing throughout the day.
