00:00On Wolfman, I felt that the best way to approach it was more practically.

00:07I wanted to actually see it.
00:09I needed it to exist as if it was happening right in front of you.

00:19With the look of Wolfman, I knew I wanted to do something very different.
00:23And Aryan delivered something really artistic and horrifying.
00:28I thought about how are we going to make this different
00:30and dare to step away from what had been done in the past.
00:34The make-ups that Jack Pierce did, Sam Winston and Rick Baker,
00:37they're such classics.
00:39It's pretty hard to top.
00:40I think the way to do it is to take it in a completely different direction.
00:44I was really inspired by movies like John Carpenter's The Thing,
00:48David Cronenberg's The Fly.
00:50Two anatomies trying to mix that don't quite go together.
00:54And it's a painful one at that.
00:56What's wrong with Daddy?
00:57He got sick.
01:01When Chris got out of his make-up trailer for the first time and I saw him,
01:04I was completely speechless.
01:06I was like, wow.
01:08Hearing from the crew, the first time they saw it,
01:10they were coming up to me and saying,
01:12I don't get scared easily, but this is one of the scariest things I've seen.
01:16Please dad, you're scaring me.
01:19Creepy and absolutely crazy.
01:21I've never seen anything like this. It looked so real.
01:25That was a turning moment where we all knew,
01:27okay, this is going to be something good.
01:30In the moment, it sort of feels like some strange performance art,
01:33because again, the effects are all real.
01:36As much labor as that is, it's very exciting to me to go that route.
01:42I really hope that people walk away from this film unable to forget the imagery.
