00:00Elon Musk is riding high politically, but his marquee company isn't doing as well.
00:05On Thursday, electric car manufacturer Tesla released its sales figures
00:09for the year's fourth quarter and last year overall.
00:12It claimed to have delivered 1.8 million vehicles in 2024,
00:16which, according to Gizmodo, is slightly less than the year before.
00:19This marks the first time in over a decade that Tesla's sales have fallen.
00:23This was the first full year in which the company's Cybertruck was available.
00:27Tesla doesn't report specific model sales, but the Other Models category,
00:31which includes the Cybertruck, accounted for only 5% of the year's totals.
00:36This slump would seem to make it all the more important for Musk
00:39to get his preferred policies from the incoming Trump administration,
00:42such as looser federal regulations and tariffs on important foreign products.
00:46But it remains to be seen whether that would be enough to turn things around for Tesla.
