Tesla cybertruck explodes near Trump Las Vegas property
Cellphone video showed thick smoke and police activity around the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada on Wednesday morning, January 1, after a Tesla cybertruck exploded and burned at the entrance of the hotel. The explosion left at least one person dead and several others injured and news reports said it was being investigated as a possible act of terror.
Eyewitnesses who shot the video from a high-rise building could be heard reacting to the explosion, describing it as a series of booms that sounded like a "rolling garbage dumpster.”
Tesla CEO Elon Musk said in a post on X that the fire in was being investigated by "the whole Tesla senior team."
Reuters was able to independently verify the location of the video by buildings facades, road layout and the Trump International Hotel structure which matched file and satellite imagery. The date of the video was verified by the original file metadata from the source.
