00:00My name is Erin Brown Thomas, and I'm the director of Chasers, which is playing in the
00:10episodic category at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival.
00:14The project is a single, continuous, 30-minute shot that follows the starry-eyed Sophia through
00:19a vibrant L.A. house party.
00:21She is pursuing her crush against the backdrop of an ensemble of dreamers chasing empty promises.
00:27I wanted to explore, like, the nexus of ambition and vulnerability and the lies we often tell
00:32ourselves to keep moving forward in the face of incredible odds and difficult people.
00:39When does our hope empower us, and when does it lead to us being exploited?
00:44You know, everyone's a dreamer, right?
00:46We're all chasing relationships, careers, or something else that gets us out of bed
00:50in the morning.
00:51I wanted to juxtapose those red flags in dating with the everyday hustle of being a creative
00:56in an industry that everyone wants to break into.
01:00I co-wrote this piece with my lead, Sierra Croney, and the central question that I was
01:04personally wrestling with was, in my own life as an artist, when am I paying my dues, and
01:10when am I chasing my abuse?
01:12The project was a way for me to confront imbalances and grieve the past, because, you know, art
01:17is healing.
01:18Through creating Chasers, I'm processing and defining my own boundaries and hopefully creating
01:23a life that feels a little more balanced, but just as exciting.
01:27I am so fortunate to be surrounded and supported by an incredible team of collaborators to
01:32make this highly ambitious project happen.
01:34We hope you enjoy it.
