00:00Many folks, though, will be leaving the gorgeous weather along the Colorado Front Range to visit friends and family across the country.
00:09This sounds a little familiar.
00:11Our good friend Tony Laubach, meteorologist Tony Laubach, is one of them who is at least in the area, but he may not be traveling today.
00:19He's joining us from Denver International Airport where he's talking to people about whether the weather will be better or worse than it will be there in Denver.
00:28In Denver, Tony, you trying to persuade people from traveling today?
00:33You know, I don't think I have to do that a whole lot here.
00:36And it's kind of a weird thing, Jeff, that I wrote that and didn't realize the tongue twister that whether the weather would be better.
00:42That actually is pretty cool. It's like Dr. Seuss in the house here this morning, man.
00:46I apologize. I did not mean to twist your tongue so early on this Christmas Eve morning here, guys.
00:53Yeah, it is not very twisty.
00:57Yeah, well, you know, I try to be creative. Writing is not one of my strong suits.
01:02But every now and again, I hit one out of the park.
01:04So whether the weather be better or wetter, depending on where you're going.
01:08And fortunately here in Denver, we're not dealing with a whole lot in the way of wet weather in this area here.
01:13In fact, Denver, probably one of the nicer spots of the country here this morning at DIA, things are running pretty smooth.
01:19We know we had that little glitch with American Airlines earlier.
01:22Fortunately, that was resolved pretty quickly.
01:24So in the time I was here, there wasn't a whole lot of issue here, particularly at Denver International Airport.
01:29As it is still pretty early in the morning, we're starting to see the flight volume increase.
01:33But really not dealing with a whole lot in the way of stress.
01:36Security wait lines here at Denver are very, very low.
01:38You see some of the crowds behind me checking into the various airlines as they're about to head off to their destinations.
01:44And we came here yesterday.
01:46We'll show you some of that video yesterday as folks were trying to get a jump start on that Christmas travel.
01:50And it was pretty slow here at DIA yesterday afternoon.
01:53Not a whole lot of folks.
01:55Here is a lot of people had probably taken off over the weekend as Christmas falling in the middle of the week.
02:00But really the big question I was coming in with were folks concerned about weather delaying their travel.
02:07And everybody I talked to had a big resounding no.
02:10So I kind of changed up the angle a little bit because here in Denver, it is just absolutely beautiful.
02:15In fact, we're expecting highs to be flirting with the 60-degree mark here today.
02:19Now, for some folks, that could be quite nice.
02:22For other folks, that could be quite naughty.
02:24So depending on what you're looking for this Christmas, that is going to be a big thing.
02:28So a lot of folks heading out of here are hopeful that maybe they'll go someplace where that Christmas will be white.
02:33I don't think so.
02:35It's supposed to be dry.
02:36I think maybe an inch tomorrow of snow.
02:39So we'll see.
02:40Yeah, it does.
02:41I'm happy about it.
02:42I'm disappointed by how warm it's been in Denver this season so far.
02:49And that has been a sentiment with a lot of folks I've talked to at the airport yesterday and early this morning
02:53is people kind of not feeling the weather being very Christmassy despite the weather being nice.
02:58So it's all kind of a matter of perspective, I guess.
03:00If you're traveling, obviously this is probably the weather you want to leave from here.
03:05We're not expecting any weather-related delays here.
03:07Maybe a gusty wind here or there.
03:09But we're not expecting any issues weather-wise here in Denver.
03:12You guys have been talking about where you could find some of those travel issues.
03:15Right now, again, looking at some of the boards, not seeing a whole lot in the way of significant delays
03:19coming out of Denver to some of those destinations.
03:21But again, folks are just going to be happy to be just getting to where they're going to be getting here.
03:27Speaking of happy, I am particularly happy here, Jeff.
03:30And I've got to say that most people out of Denver are flying quite well,
03:34unlike a certain football team from Philadelphia who lost to a team that suspiciously has similar colors
03:41to the colors on my hat here.
03:43So while not everybody flying high this weekend, most of the travelers out of DIA will be happily doing so.
03:49You know, Tony, they had won 10 games in a row, tying their franchise record.
03:53Let's get this loss out of the way before the playoffs.
03:56Oh, it stings now that you have the bite.
03:58But last week you were all smiles here against my team.
04:01I am just a bad guy right now, and our producer is a Washington fan as well.
04:06So I'm just going to put my tail between my legs and walk out of here.
04:11Well, Tony, I am firmly in the nice category.
04:15I would love to be where you are right now, and Denver sounds pretty nice.
04:19Very nice. Thank you, Tony. Good to see you, my friend.
