00:00Preparations and reminders for this year's celebration of Christmas and New Year,
00:04we will find out together with FIRE Senior Superintendent, Anna Lee Atienza,
00:08the spokesperson of the Bureau of Fire Protection.
00:11Good afternoon to you, ma'am.
00:14Good afternoon to you and to those who are following our program.
00:18So ma'am, what are the preparations of the BFP for Christmas and New Year?
00:24As of December 1, we have already activated our plan to remind people to avoid fireworks.
00:31We will continue to remind people, especially to the Christmas lights.
00:39And also, the top cause of our incidents in the past month or day is electrical ignition.
00:48That's where we will focus our fire safety education in the community.
00:56What are the operational readiness and precautionary measures that the BFP is implementing this holiday season?
01:05Of course, the entire BFP force is 24x7 ready to respond.
01:11We also have personnel who conduct recurrida.
01:16Morning, noon, and night, we go around the area using our public address system of the firetruck.
01:24So by the visibility, somehow, our countrymen will be conscious and will be reminded
01:31in the preparation of our Christmas and New Year celebration.
01:37Ma'am, for the knowledge of our countrymen, how many incidents of fire were reported in the past holiday season?
01:44What is usually the cause of this? Is it just Christmas lights?
01:49Recently, in our data, from December 1 to 24, we already had 724 fire incidents.
01:59This is nationwide compared to last year, 1,112.
02:06So in these figures, we can see that we are below the incident this year.
02:12This may be because of the fire safety education, fire prevention campaign of our agency
02:20and of course, the cooperation of our community, as well as the assistance of our local government units.
02:28That's why we can say that even though we still have these numbers,
02:33we still need to continue our participation in the programs of the Bureau of Fire Protection.
02:43If we compare this to the previous years, does it decrease or does the number of fire incidents remain high?
02:53For firecrackers, the trend we saw is low compared to now.
03:01I mean, since the pandemic started, the trend of firecracker-related fire incidents decreased.
03:09However, since 2021, 2022, 2023, and this year, the highest number is in 2023.
03:21As of now, we have 15 fire incidents related to firecrackers.
03:30So ma'am, what are the ways that you can do to avoid the fire that is about to erupt, aside from constantly reminding?
03:40Of course, there is our help, our LGUs, because we are asking for their help.
03:47We have a big help in banning the use of firecrackers in our residential areas.
03:56Instead, we designate community fireworks display areas.
04:03And knowing that Filipinos, most of us, enjoy joking, using torotot,
04:11or the sound of our casserole or cauldron, which is safer now.
04:18And our fellow Filipinos attend the so-called musical festivities in their locality,
04:27where there are also countdowns.
04:30And there, our fireworks display is there,
04:34which we are sure is safe because the force of the Bureau of Fire Protection is in the area.
04:40Okay, thank you very much for your time.
04:42Fire Senior Superintendent Annalie Atienza, the spokesperson of the Bureau of Fire Protection.
04:47Merry Christmas.
04:48Thank you, ma'am.
04:49In case of an emergency, please dial 911 before vlogging or making a video call.
