00:00Are you pleased with this indictment, sir?
00:02Guilty or not guilty?
00:06Not guilty.
00:08People.
00:10The second thing I want to make a record of, Your Honor,
00:12is I'm very concerned about my client's right to a fair trial in this case.
00:18He's being prejudiced by some statements that are being made by government officials.
00:23Like every other defendant, he's entitled to a presumption of innocence,
00:27but unfortunately, the way this has been handled so far, his rights are being violated.
00:33He's a young man, and he is being treated like a human ping-pong ball between two warring jurisdictions here.
00:40These federal and state prosecutors are coordinating with one another,
00:44but at the expense of him, they have conflicting theories in their indictments,
00:49and they are literally treating him like he is some sort of political fodder, like some sort of spectacle.
01:00He was on display for everyone to see in the biggest staged perp walk I've ever seen in my career.
01:06It was absolutely unnecessary. He's been cooperative with law enforcement.
01:11Thank you, Your Honor.
