00:00What are you?
00:02I'm Batman.
00:03Welcome to WatchMojo,
00:05and today we're counting down our picks for the all-star team of players
00:08in both of our premier comic book sandboxes.
00:11Hope the food's better in this joint.
00:15Number 30, Sylvester Stallone, Staccaro Gord, and King Shark.
00:19After his time as an action flick icon,
00:21it was only natural for Sly to join the comic book movie parade.
00:24For the MCU and James Gunn,
00:26he becomes the commanding leader of a Ravager clan.
00:28You may dress like us,
00:30but you'll never hear the horns of freedom when you die, Yondu.
00:33And the colors of a gourd will never flash over your grave.
00:38His complex history with Yondu adds to the sweeping emotion of Volume 2,
00:42and he serves as a key ally to the new Gamora in Volume 3.
00:47Meanwhile, for the DCEU and James Gunn again,
00:50Stallone plays a far more menacing yet lovable fella.
00:53As Nunawe, a humanoid shark and possible demigod,
00:56he serves as the team's heart and soul.
00:59Hand!
01:00Yes, that is your hand, Nunawe. Very good.
01:03With both characters, the Rocky star provides a steadying veteran presence,
01:07even with their brief screen time and limited dialogue.
01:11Number 29, James Marsden, Cyclops, and Richard White.
01:15Though we fell in love with him as a prince from Andalasia,
01:17James Marsden's calling card is without question Scott Summers.
01:21Defined by his powerful optic blasts,
01:23the heroic mutant is a founder and central commander of the X-Men.
01:27Aren't you gonna welcome me home?
01:30Your bike needs gas.
01:34Fill her up.
01:35While never really being a definitive adaptation of the character,
01:38he was an essential piece of the original trilogy,
01:41and a lot of that is thanks to Marsden,
01:43who nails the balance of hotshot maverick and natural leader.
01:46His time in the DC universe is more overlooked though.
01:49As Perry White's nephew and Lois Lane's fiancé,
01:52Richard is mostly a minor plot device in 2006's Superman Returns.
01:56But Marsden still shines through,
01:58giving a character that could be easily hateable his own charm and appeal.
02:03Richard, we have to turn around.
02:04What?
02:05We have to turn the plane around.
02:06We barely made it out of there.
02:08Do you want me to go back?
02:08Yes, please.
02:11Don't die.
02:16All right, hold on.
02:17Number 28, Zoe Kravitz, Angel Salvador, Mary Jane Parker,
02:22Selina Kyle, and Selina Kyle again.
02:24The 2010s saw Zoe Kravitz dip her toe into a handful of huge franchises.
02:29It all began, however, with her time as the high-flying angel in X-Men First Class.
02:34My, uh, stage name is Angel.
02:38Kind of fits.
02:39You can fly?
02:40Uh-huh.
02:42And, um...
02:47The character was intriguing and conflicted,
02:49becoming an early member of both the X-Men and the Brotherhood of Evil.
02:53Speaking of unclear allegiances, Kravitz is now best known as the iconic Catwoman.
02:58Her Selina is not only a cat burglar,
03:01but a scene stealer in Matt Reeves' acclaimed The Batman.
03:04She injected it with needed perspective and compelling thematic depth.
03:08Why don't you come with me?
03:10Get into some trouble.
03:13Knock off some CEO hedge fund types.
03:15It'll be fun.
03:17The bat and the cat.
03:18Kravitz's double duty work doesn't stop at live action, though.
03:21She also had an earlier stint as Catwoman in the Lego Batman movie,
03:25and voiced M.J. Parker in the first Spider-Verse adventure.
03:29I just wondered if we could have some more bread at table 12?
03:33Yeah.
03:36I'm just, uh, I'm really sorry.
03:39Oh, don't be sorry.
03:40It's just bread.
03:47It's been a delight to watch this versatile character actor become a fan favorite.
03:51In the MCU, he charms our socks off as the Hacker Kurt,
03:54one of Scott Lang's trusty team members.
03:58He later takes on a new role as Veb, an ally against Kang,
04:02in Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania.
04:04But these comedic outings are actually a departure from his more sinister roots.
04:09The actor's debut was as Thomas Schiff in Chris Nolan's legendary The Dark Knight.
04:13Let's go again.
04:14I don't know anything!
04:15I don't!
04:17In 2021, Dasmalchen returned to DC with The Suicide Squad.
04:22Abner, the polka-dot man Krill, boasts a uniquely colorful power set.
04:26Throw in a backstory of lost agency,
04:27and audiences could only cheer when he became a hero on his own terms.
04:32Some lived.
04:34Some died.
04:39And your mom, where is she now?
04:46Inferior.
04:49Number 26, Tilda Swinton, The Ancient One and Gabriel.
04:53With her regal and almost ethereal vibe,
04:55this Oscar winner is at home in any universe.
04:58So her dual roles as a sorcerer supreme and a half angel should come as no surprise.
05:03In DC lore, Gabriel torments Keanu Reeves' John Constantine
05:07with a twisted plot against humanity.
05:09Swinton's brilliantly androgynous portrayal
05:11expertly captures the character's spiritual turmoil.
05:15I've been watching you for a long time.
05:18It's only in the face of horror that you truly find your noblest self.
05:23And you can be so noble.
05:26Her time in the Sanctum Sanctorum, meanwhile, was just as successful.
05:30Swinton gave the mystic branch of the MCU a convincing lived-in quality.
05:34With her moral complexity and some kick-ass fights,
05:37The Ancient One served as the hidden heart of the first Doctor Strange film.
05:41Her final exchange with the new sorcerer
05:44may be one of the most poignant moments of the franchise.
05:46You'd think after all this time I'd be ready.
05:50But look at me.
05:51Stretching one moment out into a thousand.
05:55Just so that I can watch the snow.
05:57Number 25, Russell Crowe, Zeus, Nikolai Kravinoff and Jor-El.
06:02This screen legend spin on the King of Olympians in Thor Love and Thunder
06:05was met with mixed reception.
06:07To be fair, saddling him with such cartoonish material does feel like a waste.
06:21But while the role's tone wasn't beloved, Crowe still commits.
06:25And despite his frightful accent,
06:27there is something clever in playing Zeus like a tacky egomaniac.
06:31In the DCEU, his Jor-El of Krypton is held more fondly.
06:35Following a name like Marlon Brando is not easy, but Crowe holds his own.
06:39Man of Steel's extended prologue displays his action star chops
06:43and later drops some peak voiceover.
06:58Over a decade later,
06:59Crowe would return as a less wholesome dad in Sony's Kraven the Hunter.
07:04Number 24, Andy Serkis, Ulysses Klaue, Null and Alfred Pennyworth.
07:08There aren't many role combos as polar opposite as these.
07:12First appearing in Age of Ultron,
07:14Ulysses Klaue is a classic underground crime boss.
07:17Despite his bluster,
07:18the character was ultimately a pawn in Erik Killmonger's master plan.
07:27Luckily, Serkis' famed motion capture skills did not go to waste.
07:30He served as a mo-cap consultant for both Mark Ruffalo and James Bader.
07:34More recently, he introduced us to a grizzled version of Alfred Pennyworth in The Batman.
07:39It's a stern and challenging foil for a more withdrawn petulant Bruce Wayne,
07:43but all the while,
07:44Serkis never forgets Alfred's warm paternal side.
08:00In 2024, he played his second Marvel baddie,
08:10Null, the creator of symbiotes in Venom The Last Dance.
08:14Number 23, Angela Bassett, Queen Ramonda and Amanda Waller.
08:17Academy Award nominations for comic book movie performances are still rare,
08:22and for the MCU especially,
08:24it had never been done before Angela Bassett in Wakanda Forever.
08:27She commands both Black Panther films with her captivating presence and effortless gravitas.
08:32I am queen of the most powerful nation in the world,
08:37and my entire family is gone.
08:41Have I not given everything?
08:44As the Queen Mother,
08:45she's also a touchstone for every member of the series ensemble.
08:49But what's gone under the radar is her time as an infamous DC villain.
08:53Before the now iconic Viola Davis era,
08:55Amanda Waller first appeared in The Ill-Fated Green Lantern.
08:59As is her signature,
09:00the character pulled some strings from the shadows.
09:02Dr. Hammond,
09:06there's something I'd like to show you.
09:09Something I'm fairly certain you'll want to see.
09:11We would have loved to see more of Bassett in the role,
09:14if only the movie hadn't fumbled the ball.
09:17Number 22, Colin Farrell, Bullseye and the Penguin.
09:202003's Daredevil is an artifact of its era.
09:23It's pulpy and melodramatic in all the most nostalgic ways,
09:27and Colin Farrell's unhinged turn perfectly fits that tone.
09:30His campy take on Bullseye brings the callous marksman to life.
09:34He hired me to kill Nachos,
09:37and to gut your pretty girlfriend, too.
09:42But me, I'm going for the hat trick.
09:44Nearly 20 years later,
09:45the actor's version of the Penguin in The Batman is similarly exaggerated.
09:50Except this time, it has much stronger material.
09:52His Oz Cobb is brazen and deranged,
09:55yet sneakily thoughtful and almost idealistic.
09:58We'd put an emphasis on almost, though.
10:00Farrell undergoes an unbelievable transformation for the role,
10:04and it's not just the makeup and prosthetics.
10:06His voice and mannerisms are near unrecognizable.
10:18The performance received immediate acclaim,
10:20which has only grown with a spinoff series for HBO.
10:28Christopher Nolan's legendary The Dark Knight trilogy
10:30is known for its epic ensembles.
10:32At its core, though, is Christian Bale.
10:34His Bruce Wayne provides a backbone for the series,
10:37with playboy bravado and small-paned looks.
10:51While some can't get past his Batman voice,
10:58the combo is undeniably a knockout.
11:00It's an all-time character matched with one of the industry's greatest talents.
11:09In 2022, Bale joined Thor Love and Thunder as the sinister Gorr.
11:14As the God Butcher, he anchors the breezy caper in real texture and emotion.
11:19He leaves his mark on the MCU with striking physicality and a magnetic aura.
11:30His story also poignantly reminds Thor of the value of being human,
11:34even when one is a god.
11:3720. Zoe Saldana, Gamora and Aisha
11:47As soon as Zoe Saldana appeared as Gamora in 2014,
11:51we knew she had been perfectly cast for the part.
11:54She skillfully played the part of an alien warrior
11:56with a seriously bad dad and a heart of gold.
12:00Since Saldana's so tied to this Marvel guardian now,
12:03many fans have forgotten her stint in another universe.
12:06In 2010, Saldana appeared with a few other recognizable actors
12:10in the adaptation of DC's The Losers.
12:12Her role as Aisha ironically had her playing the daughter of a Bolivian bad guy,
12:17who ultimately ends up helping the heroes.
12:27In this role and her future tenure as Gamora,
12:30Saldana believably plays a tough character that you do not want to double-cross.
12:3619. Chris Pine, Peter Parker and Steve Trevor
12:55The first Peter Parker we meet in the wonderful Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse
13:00is played by Chris Pine.
13:01He gives such a charming and layered performance
13:04that we're genuinely sad to see him perish so early on in the movie.
13:08Fortunately, we've gotten to spend much more time with Pine's Steve Trevor in the DCEU.
13:13Name is Captain Steve Trevor, pilot, American Expeditionary Forces, serial number 8141.
13:19The dashing air service captain was always focused on saving lives
13:23and encouraged Wonder Woman to travel outside her island to help end World War I.
13:28After doing plenty of good, he sacrifices his life to prevent a huge disaster.
13:33And when he was magically revived in the sequel, he had to say goodbye again.
13:38We hope Pine gets to play a comic book character whose career doesn't end tragically.
13:5118. Halle Berry, Storm and Catwoman
14:04Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry infamously earned a Razzie Award
14:08for playing Catwoman in a disastrous film.
14:11Although she tried her best to make the Thief a compelling character,
14:14there was no way she could make the questionable direction and awful dialogue work.
14:25Berry got a much better platform to display her talents in the X-Men universe.
14:30Her portrayal of Storm was simply electrifying.
14:33Not only did she nail the character's iconic look,
14:36she also brought a regal presence into every scene she appeared in.
14:40We're glad Berry's bad turn as Catwoman didn't stop her from playing Storm
14:44and securing roles in other memorable action movies.
14:5117. Lawrence Fishburne, Silver Surfer, Bill Foster and Perry White
15:03When Superman started working at the Daily Planet,
15:05Lawrence Fishburne's Perry White was there to forge the Man of Steel into a sharp reporter.
15:10Although he had no superpowers, we still would not want to get on his bad side.
15:14Fishburne played another intimidating figure without special abilities in Ant-Man and the Wasp.
15:25But even though he sided with a villain, we couldn't help but relate to his sad backstory.
15:29We felt just as bad for Fishburne when he lent his voice to the Silver Surfer
15:33in a Fantastic Four movie.
15:35His emotional vocal performance was definitely the best part of the Marvel sequel.
15:4816. Tommy Lee Jones, Chester Phillips and Two-Face
15:52What about the others? Are you planning a rescue mission?
15:55Yeah, it's called winning the war.
15:56While Tommy Lee Jones isn't the first name you think of when it comes to superhero movies,
16:00his signature directness lends itself perfectly to certain characters.
16:04His blunt delivery made him the perfect person to play the strict Colonel Chester Phillips
16:09in the first Captain America.
16:10However, we're still wondering who made the head-scratching decision
16:13to have him play Two-Face in Batman Forever.
16:23The version of the villain Jones plays is ridiculously campy
16:28and a far cry from what we're used to.
16:31But we'd be lying if we said it wasn't entertaining to watch Two-Face
16:34absolutely devour the scenery.
16:37Although we don't know if Jones will ever give us another stoic or zany comic portrayal,
16:42we're thankful he's made his past roles memorable.
16:44No more riddles, no more curtains one and two.
16:47Just plain curtains.
16:56Fandral, rise.
17:02For Asgard.
17:04We wouldn't blame you if you didn't recall seeing Zachary Levi in the MCU.
17:07Although he played one of the Warriors Three,
17:09we didn't get a ton of screen time to know his character or backstory.
17:13Over in the DC Universe,
17:15Levi was chosen to be front and center of the Shazam franchise.
17:23He represents what the teenage Billy Batson looks like
17:25when he transforms into a superhero.
17:28Levi brought so much energy to the role
17:30that we believed he was a real teenager in an adult body.
17:33And when it came time for him to get serious,
17:36he looked and sounded like a true hero.
17:38Although we're sure Levi could have shone ass Fandral,
17:41he was clearly born to play Shazam.
18:02It's hard to believe that the legendary Michael Fassbender
18:05played the scenery-chewing henchman Burke in Jonah Hex.
18:09Thankfully, most people forgot about that one-dimensional character
18:12as soon as the actor started playing Magneto.
18:15The only thing I'm guilty of is fighting for people like us.
18:18You take karate? You know karate, man?
18:20I don't know karate, but I know crazy.
18:24Fassbender made sure we felt the pain
18:26that the master of magnetism had to endure
18:28growing up under the mercy of vicious tormentors.
18:31Unfortunately, the darkness inside of him
18:34eventually pushed him to become a dangerous supervillain.
18:37Fassbender brought something new to Magneto
18:39every time he reprised the role.
18:41He pulled us into theaters
18:42whenever we knew he was gonna float into the story.
19:07Jimon Honsu might have the widest variety
19:13of comic book movie roles on his resume
19:15than any other actor on this list.
19:18His first major role came
19:19when he played Papa Midnight in Constantine.
19:22Nearly 10 years later,
19:23Honsu played the villainous Korath for the first time.
19:26When he wasn't busy returning to his role,
19:28he played King Riku in the first Aquaman movie.
19:31It is the position of the fishermen
19:33that when the time comes to make ourselves known
19:35to the linesmen,
19:36it should be to educate them.
19:39Honsu routed out his big screen comic appearances
19:41by portraying the titular wizard in 2019's Shazam.
19:45Only the purest of hearts can resist their temptations.
19:50But you, you will never be worthy.
19:53No matter whether the actor was playing an alien enforcer
19:56or ancient magic user,
19:58his committed and strong performances stood out.
20:01Honsu's fantastic range makes us excited
20:03to see what comic character he might play next.
20:28In 1992, audiences saw Michelle Pfeiffer
20:31go from being an introverted secretary
20:33to becoming the unforgettable Catwoman.
20:36The character knew how to use those claws,
20:38whips and charms to disarm and defeat her enemies.
20:41Pfeiffer also wasn't afraid to show us
20:43how vulnerable Catwoman still was
20:45underneath her dominating persona.
20:51Long after the actress hung up the claws,
20:53she put on a shrinking suit
20:55to make a big splash in Ant-Man and the Wasp.
20:57Her Janet Van Dyne is a nobler figure
21:00who is willing to show kindness to her enemies.
21:02While Pfeiffer's Marvel role is more tame
21:05than her Catwoman personality,
21:06it's still great to see her lend her talents
21:08to another superhero franchise.
21:33During Cap's 2011 adventure,
21:35we met his mortal enemy Red Skull.
21:37Hugo Weaving managed to give a performance
21:39that could go from campy to terrifying
21:41at a moment's notice.
21:42On the other end of the spectrum,
21:44we saw him play the masked freedom fighter V.
21:55Watching him fight against a totalitarian London
21:58with little more than his knives
21:59and awesome alliteration was thrilling.
22:02Since the two characters are so wildly different
22:04from each other,
22:05it's really difficult to say
22:06which performance we prefer more.
22:08The only thing we know for certain
22:10is that V and Red Skull
22:12would definitely be at each other's throats
22:14if they were ever in the same room together.
22:32Gotham.
22:33No discernible pattern I can see.
22:35After voicing a couple of DC characters on TV,
22:38J.K. Simmons finally appeared
22:40in a live-action DCEU project
22:42as Commissioner Gordon.
22:43While he was a pretty decent Gotham lawman,
22:45his most iconic comic book portrayal
22:47will always be J. Jonah Jameson.
22:50Simmons managed to make an antagonistic journalist
22:53into one of the most lovable characters
22:54in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man films.
22:57Spider-Man, hero or menace?
22:59Exclusive Daily Bugle photos.
23:00Menace.
23:01He was protecting that armor...
23:02Tell you what, Atticus,
23:03you take the pictures,
23:04I'll make up the headlines, okay?
23:05All right?
23:05That okay with you?
23:06He could make us cringe or laugh
23:08with just a facial expression alone.
23:10Since Simmons was so great in the role,
23:13they brought him back to play Jameson again
23:15in an entirely different universe.
23:17Fans are more than happy to let him step
23:19into the hilarious media mogul's shoes
23:21for as long as he wants.
23:23But that's not all, folks.
23:24Here's the real blockbuster.
23:26Number 9.
23:27Idris Elba.
23:28Heimdall, Moreau, Roke and Bloodsport.
23:31How far are the stars?
23:33Still shining.
23:34From here, I can see nine realms
23:36of ten trillion souls.
23:38Most Marvel fans will recognize
23:41this phenomenal British actor
23:42as the Guardian of Asgard
23:44who sees all there is to see
23:46throughout the nine realms.
23:47As Heimdall, Elba portrayed a stoic badass
23:50who preserved Asgard's laws
23:52and stood watch on the Bifrost.
23:54He also tried to fight for good as Moreau
23:56in the second Ghost Rider film.
23:58My name is Moreau.
23:59My brothers are dead as should I be,
24:02if not for the intervention of God.
24:05Elba definitely was a little more
24:07lax with the rules
24:08when he played explosives expert Roke
24:10in The Losers.
24:11However, he really got to flex
24:13his villainous side in his role
24:15as Bloodsport in The Suicide Squad.
24:17Elba was able to make
24:18what could have been
24:19a run-of-the-mill mercenary
24:21into a layered character.
24:22His turn as Bloodsport showed
24:24the actor still has plenty
24:26to bring to the superhero genre.
24:28If we all go free,
24:29it never has to see the light of day.
24:33I told you I'd make you a leader, DuBois.
24:35Number eight, Ben Affleck,
24:37Matt Murdock and Bruce Wayne.
24:39Who made you judge?
24:45You did.
24:46There's no getting around the fact
24:48that Academy Award winner Ben Affleck
24:50played Daredevil in a movie that exists
24:53and that is about the nicest thing
24:56we can say on the subject.
24:58After that disaster,
24:59he decided to take a go
25:00at another iconic character
25:02and become Batman.
25:03Affleck was much better suited
25:05to play a weathered and violent version
25:06of the Caped Crusader.
25:08We're criminals, Alfred.
25:09We've always been criminals.
25:10Nothing's changed.
25:12Oh, yes it has, sir.
25:14Despite his edgier nature,
25:16his Batman was still warm enough
25:18to recruit other heroes to his cause.
25:20Affleck's work on the role
25:21definitely redeemed
25:22his tarnished comic book reputation.
25:24Every time he put on the suit
25:26and waded into a fight,
25:27we couldn't take our eyes off the screen.
25:30Believe me, I'll do it!
25:35I believe you.
25:36Number seven.
25:37Willem Dafoe, Norman Osborn, and Vulko.
25:40You're a formidable fighter on land,
25:42but here you're out of your element.
25:44Literally.
25:44Ormus spent his entire life underwater,
25:47training to be a warrior,
25:49training to be the best.
25:51You taught me how to fight, Kumukai.
25:53Let's see if you remember anything.
25:55Aquaman wouldn't have been ready to be king
25:58without Vulko in his corner.
26:00This loyal and stern Atlantean
26:01was always there to lend a word of wisdom
26:04to Arthur Curry.
26:04Before playing this questionably good character,
26:07Dafoe took on the role of Norman Osborn,
26:09also known as Green Goblin.
26:12Back to formula.
26:13Dr. Osborn, I'm going to be frank with you.
26:17It was fascinating to watch him play
26:19a normal businessman
26:20that slowly unravels during the movie.
26:23While Dafoe played certain parts of the role
26:24completely seriously,
26:26he could also ham up certain scenes
26:28to make them even more entertaining.
26:30We still find ourselves quoting
26:32this sinister villain's lines today
26:34thanks to the actor's iconic delivery.
26:35Deliver us!
26:38Finish it!
26:40Finish it!
26:42Number six.
26:43Tom Hardy, Eddie Brock, and Bane.
26:46No one cared who I was
26:47till I put on the mask.
26:50If I pull that off, will you die?
26:53It would be extremely painful.
26:55You're a big guy.
26:56For you.
26:58Every aspect of Tom Hardy's portrayal of Bane
27:01was perfect.
27:02He perfected the supervillain's intelligence,
27:04menace, and impressive strength.
27:06Even the odd voice has grown on fans over time.
27:09You merely adopted the dark.
27:13I was born in it, molded by it.
27:17Years after Hardy played a straight-up
27:19DC comic book villain,
27:21he took a stab at playing
27:22the Marvel anti-hero Eddie Brock.
27:24After this reporter bonds with an alien symbiote,
27:27he becomes capable of taking the names
27:29and heads of anyone who gets him angry.
27:31Hardy brings a surprising amount of humor
27:34and likability to this dark role.
27:35After seeing him appear in two films
27:37and counting as Brock,
27:39we're glad he was given permission
27:40to try being an anti-hero after playing Bane.
27:42What the hell are you?
27:46We are Venom.
27:49Number five.
27:50Ryan Reynolds.
27:51Hannibal King, Wade Wilson,
27:53Wade Wilson again,
27:54and Hal Jordan.
27:56I can tell you two things.
27:59One, your hairdo is ridiculous.
28:06Not everyone can bounce back from starring
28:08in three superhero duds.
28:10Reynolds first tried his hand at a Marvel property
28:13by playing Hannibal King in Blade Trinity.
28:15After that movie failed to impress,
28:17he appeared as Wade Wilson
28:19in X-Men Origins Wolverine.
28:21Although he was funny,
28:22no one laughed when his character
28:23was radically redesigned
28:25so he couldn't even speak.
28:27Reynolds found even more infamy
28:29when he went over to DC
28:30to star in the critically panned Green Lantern.
28:33Ah, green.
28:38Wow, I know, right?
28:40After all of these setbacks,
28:42the actor got to play Wade Wilson properly
28:44in the first Deadpool.
28:45Seeing him crush the role there
28:47and in other films
28:48while making fun of his past flops
28:50is awesome and cathartic.
28:52And please don't make the super suit green
28:55or animated.
29:07Neither the Guy Fawkes-masked anarchist
29:09or the God of Thunder
29:10could have succeeded
29:11without Natalie Portman's help.
29:13As Evie Hammond,
29:14she portrayed a woman
29:15whose normal life is uprooted
29:17when she's drafted into V's cause.
29:19Over the course of the movie,
29:20she finds the strength
29:21to fight back against corruption.
29:23Why are you doing this?
29:25Because he was right.
29:26About what?
29:27That this country needs more
29:28than a building right now.
29:31Needs hope.
29:32Portman later made waves
29:33in the superhero genre again
29:35when she started playing
29:36the quirky astrophysicist Jane Foster.
29:38She actively tried her best
29:40to use her intelligence and know-how
29:42to help gods and earthlings alike.
29:44Then, of course,
29:45she was upgraded big time
29:46to Mighty Thor in Thor Love and Thunder.
29:49First off, the name is Mighty Thor.
29:54And secondly,
29:56if you can't say Mighty Thor,
29:58I'll accept Dr. Jane Foster.
30:08Johnny, this is Dolce.
30:10Yeah.
30:14Flame on!
30:18Even before the birth of the MCU,
30:20Chris Evans made his mark
30:21on the superhero scene
30:22as the hot-headed human torch
30:24in the Fantastic Four franchise.
30:26He hopped over to DC
30:27to play a computer expert
30:29named Jake Jensen in The Losers.
30:31While both those performances
30:33were certainly entertaining,
30:34neither role could match
30:36the impact Evans made
30:37as Captain America.
30:38This is the fight of our lives.
30:41And we're gonna win.
30:45Whatever it takes.
30:47Over the course of eight years,
30:48he made us believe
30:49in the star-spangled man.
30:51He saved the world time and time again
30:53while being unfailingly loyal
30:55and incredibly courageous.
30:57And as an added bonus,
30:59Evans got to kick off
31:00one of the most noteworthy action scenes
31:02of the 2010s.
31:04Avengers!
31:09Assemble.
31:10No!
31:14Number two, Josh Brolin.
31:16Cable, Thanos, and Jonah Hex.
31:19If you get yourself into a jam,
31:22I imagine you can find me.
31:24Although comic book fans
31:25might not be eager
31:26to revisit Brolin's turn
31:27as DC's Jonah Hex,
31:29his later roles in Marvel films
31:31more than made up
31:32for that underwhelming movie.
31:33The actor had the perfect look
31:35and gruff demeanor
31:36to play a convincing Cable
31:37in Deadpool 2.
31:38My name's Cable.
31:40I'm from the future.
31:42Just walk away.
31:43His great chemistry with Ryan Reynolds
31:46and superb action scenes
31:47left us wanting more.
31:49As great as Cable was,
31:51there's no denying
31:52that his best comic role to date
31:54is Thanos.
31:54It nearly killed me.
31:58But the work is done.
32:00It always will be.
32:02He managed to make an evil purple titan
32:05who wanted to wipe out
32:06half of all life
32:07sound like a reasonable individual.
32:09Brolin's awe-inspiring work
32:11set the gold standard
32:12for how comic book villains
32:14should be portrayed.
32:15What I'm about to do
32:16to your stubborn,
32:19annoying little planet,
32:23I'm gonna enjoy it.

32:41Number one, Michael Keaton,
32:43Adrian Toomes and Bruce Wayne.
32:53Back in the 1980s,
32:54people were skeptical
32:55that Michael Keaton
32:56could play the Dark Knight.
32:58But once he put on the costume,
32:59it was clear he was Batman.
33:01He struck a great balance
33:03between the billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne
33:05and the frightening caped crusader.
33:07Decades after Keaton
33:08flew around Gotham as the Bat,
33:10he soared over NYC as the Vulture.
33:12He was incredibly intimidating in the role.
33:24When his scary persona was combined
33:26with his sympathetic motivations,
33:28he became one of the MCU's best villains.
33:31There are plans for Keaton
33:32to make appearances as both characters
33:34in future films.
33:36The fact that he's playing a hero
33:37and villain in two separate universes
33:4030 years after his first comic book role
33:43makes Keaton one of a kind.
