A car plowed into a crowded Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany, on Friday evening, killing at least four people, including a toddler, and injuring at least 60. Authorities are treating the incident, which occurred around 7 p.m., as an attack.

The driver, a 50-year-old Saudi doctor who has lived in Germany since 2006, was arrested at the scene. Interior Minister Tamara Zieschang confirmed he had been practicing medicine in Bernburg, 23 miles south of Magdeburg. Officials believe he acted alone, and Saxony-Anhalt Governor Reiner Haseloff stated there is no ongoing threat to the city.
