00:00How are you looking, in particular Royce and Calvary?
00:14They are both available to be in the squad.
00:16Any update on anybody else?
00:19Anybody close coming back?
00:22Anybody have setbacks?
00:25No, Tomeiasu and Shynchenko are probably available as well.
00:30Jose has obviously had a very good week.
00:34There's nothing like a few goals to get that confident, pumping body again.
00:40Has he been noticeably different out there?
00:44Is there the sense that, having seen what he did on Wednesday night,
00:51he almost has to start on Saturday?
00:54He was very happy, everybody in the team was really happy,
00:57especially because he helped the team to win the game and get to the semi-finals,
01:01which is what we wanted.
01:03You can see that immediate reaction of him, a big smile on his face,
01:06big energy around him.
01:08That's what we need, to have everybody in the highest level of performance.
01:12And Gaby said he had a big one on Wednesday.
01:15Do you get the sense that he's in a place now where he can go on a really decisive run?
01:21Yeah, he's been looking really good since he came back from pre-season.
01:24After he had a setback, he started to play some good performances without scoring.
01:28Obviously, what he did the other day, I think it's exactly what we need from our ninth.
01:34We saw Kieran Turner in the wake.
01:38It sounds like he's set to move on in January. Is that correct?
01:43At the moment he's here with us.
01:45I wouldn't play a player that is thinking about leaving or is not committed to us.
01:49He's fully committed.
01:50He's enjoying, I think, after a long period, again, with a really tough injury.
01:55So leave the moment.
01:57He's a big part of the squad now.
01:59He deserves to be in the squad.
02:01He played really well the other day after such a long time.
02:04So that's the only thing I can say.
02:06He's not in the squad at the moment, but it's very near January.
02:09Are you expecting him?
02:10I mean, does he want to move on?
02:12Is it the best for the club and the player?
02:14He hasn't come to me and said, I want to move.
02:16When in the past we had any doubts, he came to me and said,
02:19I think it's my time to move.
02:21And this hasn't been the case yet.
02:23Just finally, I'm sure we're going to get lots of questions on your anniversary today.
02:27You've spoken a lot about what you're proud of in terms of connecting with fans,
02:34rebuilding the culture here, the players that you've moulded and brought through.
02:41The one desire, the really big piece of silverware,
02:45would that really make that five years successful for you?
02:50Where it would make it or what it is?
02:53How would you assess your five years?
02:58That I really enjoyed it.
03:00That it's gone really, really fast.
03:02That I'm really grateful to be in the position that I'm in right now.
03:07That I have a lot to learn, a lot to improve, and the best is yet to come.
03:12The best is yet to come.
03:13For you, it has to be made of silverware.
03:16Five years' time.
03:17This is what we want, to win the big trophies.
03:21Without losing the rest of the things that we have built.
03:24That's very important as well.
03:29Crystal Palace again.
03:31For you as a manager, is it easier or more complex to play the same team
03:35in such a tight turnaround?
03:36Is the prep a little bit different?
03:37It is different, obviously.
03:39We played very recently, we analysed them,
03:41so you don't have to do that too much.
03:43I'm sure that both teams will adjust a few things
03:46and probably change some personnel as well.
03:48Apart from that, the difficulty of the game remains the same.
03:51We know what it is to go to Selhows Park,
03:53and we have prepared for that.
03:56Obviously, there's use of this hat-trick.
03:57You said he was so sharp, he played well.
03:59Can we expect maybe to see him and Havertz successfully play
04:03in the same club at some point this season?
04:06Yes, that's possible.
04:07With the players that we have and the connection that we can generate,
04:11I think it's very doable to have that kind of situation.
04:14As I said before, I'm really pleased for Gabi's performance,
04:17for the team's performance,
04:18and most importantly, the fact that we're in the semi-finals.
04:22Of course, happy anniversary, five years at Arsenal.
04:25What do you think has changed the most at the club
04:27over your time here in here, in yourself and in the culture?
04:34I don't know.
04:35From my point of view, the unity, the connection,
04:39and the fact that we are competing in big fronts right now.
04:42We haven't managed to do that in the past years.
04:46That's positive, but there's still a lot to do.
04:50Ian, talk to the mic.
04:51Hi, Mikel.
04:52First, can I get your reaction to the draw against Newcastle in the semi-final?
04:57Let's play them.
04:58Two very difficult games.
05:00We know that the four teams that are involved in the semi-finals
05:03are the highest level,
05:05so it didn't matter who would draw,
05:07the difficulty was going to be there.
05:09If you win or draw tomorrow,
05:11I think it's the first time in 20 years
05:13a team in London has gone a whole calendar year
05:16without losing a London derby.
05:18I think you've played 10 so far, so tomorrow's will be the 11th.
05:21What's the secret to that,
05:23and how much more different is a London derby to any other game?
05:29Well, trouble this year.
05:31The kind of and range of teams that you play is very, very different
05:35because it's unique that in such a city we have so many Premier League clubs.
05:40But so far it's been good,
05:42so hopefully tomorrow we can win it
05:44and put ourselves in a great position again.
05:47Is it harder playing those games?
05:49Because sometimes for London teams, you don't win the title or whatever.
05:52You've always said, well, they've got to play
05:54a certain amount of London derbies in a season,
05:56whereas in other places around the UK,
05:59you only play one or two derbies.
06:01I don't see it that way, obviously.
06:03When you look at the calendar of the Premier League,
06:05you realise that every opponent is difficult,
06:08every time you have to travel it's difficult,
06:10and that's it.
06:12It's special, I think it's nice for our supporters,
06:14it's very convenient, I believe.
06:16So that's a positive.
06:17Just a couple on your five-year anniversary.
06:19First of all, you made Arsenal relevant again.
06:22Charging challenges again, trophy challenges again.
06:25It was a united club with the supporters, which was important.
06:29Is that what makes you, in a sense,
06:31gives you the greatest satisfaction?
06:33Will that be your legacy here?
06:35Well, that's obviously a big part of it,
06:37and the other way, I think the other thing
06:39is the fact that I really enjoy working with the people
06:42I work with every single day,
06:44that we have built something together,
06:46and so many people have contributed in a big way
06:49to achieve that,
06:51and the fact that everybody's hungry and ambitious,
06:54that now we have to go to another level.
06:56I speak to a lot of managers all the time,
06:59we've been at clubs for various lengths of time,
07:01you haven't changed in five years,
07:03you haven't got grey hair on your head.
07:05I have, I have.
07:07How do you still look almost exactly the same now
07:10as you did five years ago?
07:12What is the secret to life change?
07:14Well, I think I have changed.
07:17Things are different, it's gone so fast, to be fair.
07:20Looking back, it's gone so, so, so fast,
07:23and I enjoy every minute of it,
07:25when we're pumps in the row,
07:27when we have good moments,
07:29and that's about it.
07:31I'm here because I'm so passionate about what I do,
07:34because I love this football club,
07:36and I want the best of that.
07:38So just try to give your best version every single day,
07:41and think what is the best possible manager
07:44for Arsenal Football Club and its players,
07:47and try to become that manager.
07:50Simon Stendhal.
07:52Can I just double-check, did you say at the start
07:54that Tomiasu would be possibly back this week?
07:56No, no, sorry, Tomiasu not.
07:58And just also on the anniversary and the five years,
08:02just that connection you have with the club,
08:04the feeling you have with the club,
08:06how much has that grown over this period?
08:08Yeah, obviously those things take time, obviously.
08:11There was a connection there because I was a player here,
08:14I was a captain here, I knew a lot of people at the club,
08:17and that was very helpful.
08:19But I don't know, going through different situations together,
08:23I think that's what has galvanised that relationship,
08:27that respect, that admiration from my side
08:30and appreciation of what they have brought to the club
08:33and towards me as well, and I think it's a common feeling.
08:37Just given that, could you imagine ever managing
08:40another Premier League club?
08:42At the moment, impossible.
08:44I have very limited energy
08:46because I put all of it to this football club,
08:49to the players and the staff, to give my very best,
08:52and my only ambition is to make this club more successful.
08:55Can I just call you on...
08:57Is Dinchenko out as well this weekend?
08:59No, I think he could be available.
09:02And over the past five years,
09:04you've had to make a lot of big, tough decisions,
09:07I'm just wondering if there's one that stands out to you
09:10as the most important one you've had to make?
09:16It's a good question.
09:18Well, first of all, I don't make decisions by myself,
09:21so it's always a lot of time that we share that with the clubs,
09:25with the people in the past, the people right now,
09:28and as well with my coaches,
09:30when we have to make decisions like that.
09:32So, very difficult to point one of those.
09:39What I would say, probably,
09:41is that I haven't regretted decisions,
09:45because we have made them with a lot of analysis
09:48and after a very thoughtful process with a lot of people,
09:51and some right and many wrong, unfortunately.
09:55And across your five years,
09:57you've had a few, one of the kids,
09:59who looking like they want to live up to their potential,
10:02and you've been able to get them back on track,
10:04I just wonder if you look at Marcus Rashford's situation,
10:06is there any part of you that thinks,
10:08I'd love to take him and get him back to the way he was?
10:10No, and you know that I'm not going to talk about players from other clubs.
10:15James, Athletic.
10:16Hi, Mikel.
10:17Hi.
10:18You spoke about the five years going really fast for you,
10:21and it's been over so quickly,
10:23does that mean that when you project forward,
10:25can you easily imagine yourself being here another five years?
10:28No.
10:29I mean, I think you have to live the present in this job,
10:33and obviously you have to plan for what is coming in the mid and long term,
10:37that's for sure, and we have a lot of conversation regarding that,
10:40but I think the energy has to be in the moment,
10:43and paying attention to every detail,
10:45understanding how things are working,
10:48putting more processes in place to make better decisions,
10:53and always have that aim to keep everybody on their feet,
10:57to get the best out of them,
10:59and make sure that they feel part of what we do.
11:01You said you're still enjoying it and still getting better,
11:04I suppose when you look at yourself and you analyse your own performance,
11:07what are the areas moving forward that you think,
11:10I can still be better as a coach?
11:12In all of them.
11:14Probably when I arrived I was very, very obsessed
11:17with the tactical aspect of the game,
11:19and then straight away, two or three months after I took the job,
11:23I realised that there was no tactics to do,
11:26we were at home sitting with COVID,
11:28so we had to look after the club and the players in a different way,
11:31and the emotional and the physical part was a very important one,
11:35so just that evolution,
11:37probably putting the priorities in other aspects as well,
11:39the focus and spending time in other things,
11:42and that's what I think I try to do.
11:45I think the team has always set some requirements,
11:48but they can change and they can shift in relation to moments,
11:51individual plays, or collective momentum that we have as a team,
11:55and the coach has to be able to adapt and prioritise those things
11:58to help them as much as possible.
12:00Last couple of live questions.
12:02Hi, Mika.
12:03Hi.
12:04There were times on Wednesday where Timba drifted into advanced roles,
12:07almost like an attacking midfielder.
12:09How impressed have you been with him adapting to the different roles?
12:13How much creative licence do you give him,
12:15or is that himself just doing that?
12:17Well, he's doing that because, first of all, it's his nature,
12:20he's capable of doing it, he feels very comfortable doing it,
12:24and yeah, we try to coach him to play in his strengths,
12:29to mould with the qualities that go around him with his plays as well,
12:32and I'm very pleased because I think he's been performing really, really well.
12:36OK, and finally, one in Spanish from Mel.
12:38Yeah.
12:39Hola.
12:40Feliz aniversario.
12:41Gracias.
13:48Perfecto.
13:49Muchas gracias y feliz aniversario.
13:50Gracias.
