00:00Kate Middleton usually has her hands full with royal duties, but the Duchess of Cambridge
00:05and mom-of-three also follow some pretty regular routines, just like the rest of us, almost.
00:11Middleton may grocery shop with bodyguards, but she's still doing her own shopping.
00:15So what does a duchess throw in her cart?
00:17Here's what Kate Middleton really eats.
00:21Spicy foods
00:22When William and Kate attended Taste of British Columbia in 2016, chef Vikram Vij cooked up
00:27wine-marinated lamb popsicles in fenugreek cream curry.
00:31The royal couple had served lamb for their wedding in 2011, so clearly they were fans.
00:36But since Indian food can pack some heat, the chef prepared a mild version of the dish
00:40for William.
00:41Kate, meanwhile, likes it hot, and even took home a copy of the chef's latest cookbook.
00:46Granny's chutney
00:48While Middleton probably spends more time with her in-laws than her own family, she's
00:52found a way to bring a piece of home to Kensington Palace through family heirloom recipes, including
00:56at least one from her grandmother.
00:58Middleton even incorporated one of those recipes into a holiday gift for the Queen of England.
01:03In an interview for the documentary Our Queen at 90, Middleton explained,
01:07"...I thought back to what I would give my own grandparents, and I thought, I'll make
01:10her something, which could have gone horribly wrong, but I decided to make my granny's recipe
01:14of chutney."
01:15The following day, the monarch had placed the chutney out on the table.
01:19If you want to sample it for yourself, you can find the recipe in Kate's sister Pippa
01:23Middleton's family cookbook, Celebrate.
01:26Home-cooked meals
01:27A friend of William and Kate's told Vanity Fair that one of Middleton's preferred hobbies
01:32is cooking, and that she especially enjoys making the prince's favorite meal, roast chicken.
01:36The couple also reportedly owns a sausage maker, and in addition to the chutney Middleton
01:41cooks, she also prepares fruit jams and preserves.
01:44One friend told the magazine,
01:45"...Kate was on the King's Road not so long ago carrying a shopping bag with a chicken
01:49in it that she was taking home to cook for William's supper.
01:52That's their idea of the perfect night."
01:55When in Mumbai
01:56Though Kate and William both eat meat, it turns out that they sometimes go vegetarian.
02:00In 2016, when the royal couple was staying at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai, they
02:05stuck to a vegetarian diet.
02:07Hotel chef Raghu told Hello,
02:08"...it is all vegetarian because I was told that was what they preferred."
02:12William and Kate dined privately on a menu of lentil curry and vegetable kebabs.
02:18Almond milk?
02:20Middleton's all about that wellness life, but she might not follow every plant-based
02:24trend.
02:25When the couple visited a charity-run cafe and was served an assortment of homemade cakes
02:28and teas, organization member Kim Gardner told People,
02:32"...we put almond milk on the table because we had read that she had it."
02:35It was a thoughtful gesture, but Middleton told the group,
02:37"...don't believe everything you read.
02:39I don't even like almond milk."
02:41Whoops!
02:42Nevertheless, Middleton went on to graciously compliment the rest of the spread.
02:46Salty snacks
02:48Fans of the royal couple were likely excited to see them at a Nets Cavaliers game in 2014.
02:53Blending in with the crowd, they even chowed down on some popcorn.
02:56One fan tweeted,
02:57"...we can't blame them.
02:58It really is good popcorn."
02:59While the buttery snack is probably just an occasional treat, healthy eating for Middleton
03:04involves staying pretty balanced and, of course, indulging once in a while on some decadent
03:08snacks.
03:09Emphasis on the snacks, please.
