00:00Prince Harry and Meghan Markle surprised the world by including Archie and Lilibet in their
00:05Christmas card this year. How exactly did people respond? Let's just say that the majority
00:10of the chatter isn't filled with holiday cheer.
00:13The card, sent electronically via email on December 16th, included a montage of six photos,
00:19five of which show Harry and Meghan on their Goodwill trips in 2024, including to Nigeria
00:24and Colombia. But the one photo that has everyone talking is the one on the top row in the middle.
00:30Which features the couple's kids, Archie and Lilibet. Clearly, they are the stars of the
00:34card. In the pic, the two children are running towards their parents who are greeting them
00:38both with outstretched arms. Their three dogs are amongst the family as well. The Sussexes
00:43are notoriously protective of their children and rarely share images of them. In fact,
00:48this is the first card since 2021 that has done so. And although we get to see their
00:53red hair, it feels like a deliberate choice of a photo, as it doesn't show the children's
00:58faces.
00:59Perhaps unsurprisingly, the internet has a few things to say about that choice, none
01:03of it being what you'd call positive. The comment sections on YouTube or any of the
01:07other social media platforms where the pics were shared are completely inundated with
01:12accusations of phoniness, conspiracy, and everything in between.
01:16I don't know. It sure seems fishy.
01:20One of the more popular opinions is that the photo was heavily edited using Photoshop.
01:25As one user wrote,
01:26"...everything in this photo represents them. It's cringe, fake, photoshopped, messy."
01:30Plenty of others claimed that the use of AI is plainly evident as well. Megan's seemingly
01:35extra-long arm, the angle of her feet compared to the rest of her body, and the weird bends
01:40in Archie's legs have all been aspects of the photo that internet sleuths continue to
01:44dissect with abandon.
01:46Others went a step farther and claimed that the kids in the photo aren't actually Archie
01:50and Lilibet. One user claimed,
01:52"...very fuzzy and photoshopped. Looks much older than three. Her hair doesn't look very
01:56thick. Those kids could be anyone. I don't know how anyone believes their BS. Megan needs
02:01to get a new word salad. She's had the same bit for six years now."
02:05Of course, not every comment was an attack. Even a family as controversial as the Sussexes
02:10has plenty of loyal fans. As one of these fans wrote,
02:13"...I'm glad they don't show the kids' faces. Protect your kids, H&M. You owe no one any
02:18explanation. Happy holidays, Sussex family."
02:21Another wrote,
02:22"...only trolls would be vicious about children."
02:24Wherever you may fall on the spectrum of opinion, it goes without saying that nothing else about
02:28the card was too surprising. Sending a holiday card has been a royal tradition for more than
02:32100 years, after all. As of this video, the world is still waiting for Prince William
02:37and Princess Catherine to send theirs out. The family of five is usually in coordinated,
02:42albeit casual, outfits that feature shades of blue, gray, and olive, along with a healthy
02:46dose of denim. Considering everything they've been through over the past year, it's going
02:51to be extra heartwarming seeing them embrace the holiday spirit together.
02:55King Charles III and wife-queen consort Camilla were on the ball this year, dropping theirs
02:59just over a week ago. For 2024, the couple used a photo that was taken last spring in
03:04the Buckingham Palace Gardens. It's much more toned down than last year's card, which featured
03:09a photo of them on their 2023 coronation day, wearing their seemingly heavy, elaborate crowns.
