00:32More than 500 families or more than 1,600 individuals

00:36lost their homes in a big fire in Barangay Looc in Mandaue City, Cebu last March.

00:50The fire was raised to the third alarm.

00:52One of the first to respond was volunteer firefighter Ryan Conson, who was on duty.

01:00He was hit in the body.

01:02And when the fire was extinguished,

01:04Ryan was also one of the first to respond to the fire in Barangay Looc Gym.

01:11His house was also burned.

01:14It's really hard because you helped other people

01:20and now your house is gone.

01:22It's on fire.

01:24I lost my son.

01:26Even though he lost his home,

01:28he was thankful that his whole family was saved

01:31and they will celebrate Christmas together.

01:34Whatever happens, I will continue to serve.

01:44After a month, Ryan and his family are slowly recovering

01:50with the help of people with good intentions.

01:55For the Barangay Chairman of Looc,

01:57Ryan's sacrifice is unforgivable.

02:00What Ryan is showing is really a determination of a volunteer job.

02:07Despite what happened to him,

02:13but he continued to serve as a fire volunteer.

02:17He is part of the Employee of the Year,

02:19Most Outstanding Employee of the Year of 2024 here in Barangay Looc.

02:27This Christmas and the new year,

02:30Ryan is hoping for a better life for his family

02:35and all the victims of the fire.

02:39No matter what happens,

02:41as long as we are together and enjoy Christmas,

02:46we should be happy because it's Christmas.
