01:02maraming salamat. Wow. Noong dumating sa amin ng balita na ika'y magbabalik at gagawa ng pelikula, I was totally happy.
01:12Yun. Thank you. Because I am a certified Hilda Coronel fan. Thank you so much. I mean, that's the truth. That's very nice.
01:19Um, God, you know, I need about two hours to talk to you. Just like my press con, it was really long because it was lively.
01:28Merry Christmas. Merry Christmas. Merry, Merry Christmas. Thank you. Merry Christmas to you too. Yes.
01:33And, um, kanina napapagusapan natin that, you know, people think you're aloof. People think you're intimidating.
01:41You know, people think, hala, Hilda Coronel. I don't even know why. You're aware of that. You don't even know why.
01:47No, I don't. And I told you because you're very shy. I'm a very shy person, yeah.
01:52But how do you live with that misconception? I just, I don't care. Bahala na sila. If they think about me that way, what can I do?
02:02At saka, alam mo, I was telling our writers on the show, si Hilda ang isang artista na hindi ko nakita na nagbihis.
02:13You know, I have no image of you on carpets, awards, because you didn't go, did you go to awards nights?
02:20Madalas, hindi kung baka-akalusot ako. So they have to threaten me, okay, we'll put it in your contract, okay, you must attend, blah, blah, blah.
02:31Minsan nominate ako, hindi ako matand. And then Lino will call me, you gotta go, you gotta go. Why? Sabi ko, never mind na lang, just get that trophy for me.
02:40I want to talk about Lino Broca, I want to talk about Isabel Bernal, I want to talk about Danny Salsita, but before we talk about them,
02:47you are back because of a movie that you're going to do with Ideas First. Yes. Ano ito?
02:52I'm going to do a historical thriller for Ideas First with Jun Lana. Directing it? Yes, directing it.
03:00And it's called Sisa? It's called Sisa, and they have a misconception sometimes that it is about Jose Rizal Sisa, but it's not.
03:08So, original story ito ni Jun. Interesting. Interesting. Lalo na dito sa atin, sa Pilipinas, kasi pag sinasabing,
03:15alam niyo po, people know that I manage talents. May anak ako mahusay umakte. Dalawa lamang yon.
03:21Gusto mo akita, mahusay siya umiyak. Usually they say. They equate, they think that it's not amount to good acting.
03:29Hindi ko naman nasisisi because there are requirements that you really need to cry. Pangalawa, ay gusto mo, if you ask for a piece, it's usually Crispin, Basilio, di ba?
03:41How would you know? I was talking to your producers today, just before we started the show. At ang aking katanungan kay Percy Intalan was, ano ang Sisa? How are you going to attack it?
03:52Turn of the century. This is right after the American-Spanish war. Sino si Sisa ito kung hindi ito yung Sisa ni Rizal?
04:00Sabi nila, we will collaborate with Hilda. Ano ang vision mo sa Sisa na gagawin mo?
04:06Well, Sisa was, they see her as a mad woman at the beginning. But she was. She was very damaged because her whole family was decimated during the occupation when the Spaniards ceded the country to the Americans.
04:21So, occupied na naman ang Pilipinas. So, we were like living in a mga, parang, sort of like a concentration camp. Reconcentrados, they call it.
04:30So, we have the Nationalists on the rise, on the other side. So, we're showing all sides. The bad side of the Nationalists, the bad side of the American occupation, and all that, and the things in between, from the perspective of the people that were there in this particular bayan.
04:50So, parang luka-luka siya. She's like luka talaga. So, they treat her like, okay lang yan, you know. So, that's why, anong pangalan mo? They ask, and I go, I don't know. You know, hindi ko alam, hindi ko alam. So, pinangalanan, kasi luka-luka, pinangalanan, Sisa. Pangalanan niyo na lang yan na Sisa. So, that's it. But, truly, she wasn't really crazy. She was a spy for the Nationalists, the revolutionaries.
05:19Okay, and that's really interesting. Kung saan mapupunta po ang storya, at kung paano yata kinihilda sa kani? Junlana po ang director ng pelikula. Is something that we can look forward to. What attracted you to the material?
05:35It's totally different from what I'm, you know.
05:38Have you done something like this?
05:39Nothing like this. I did Lupang Hilirang, which is a period piece in the old days, but it's totally different. You know, totally different. And this really is concentrating on her and her talagang revenge, you know, yung gusto niyang mangyare. Okay, pinatay niyo lahat ang mga pamilya ko. So, talaga, it's very interesting.
05:59I love the story and the presentation of Jun and Percy and Elmer and SK was in the Zoom meeting. It was so interesting. It was so professionally done and I thoroughly love them. I love the script. I love the synopsis first.
06:15And then I said, okay, I love it. Now, give me a good script. Actually, I said, give me a great script. And they did.
06:22Yes. And you're going to get a great movie. Kasama po ni Miss Hilda Connell dito sa pelikulang ito. I have the permission of your producers. Okay, good. Eugene Dominguez there, Jenica Garcia, at marami pa pong iba. Marami. So, kaabang-abang talaga ang pelikulang ito.
06:38Maganda. Maraming itatackle na issues. And it's a very interesting story. It's really, really, very interesting story.
06:46Relevant pa. Relevant pa rin, yeah. And you have a little bit of history but at the same time, yung nangyayari sa mga buhay ng mga taong nandon, it's so interesting. I don't want to tell the story. Pero mga twists and turns namin, very interesting.
06:59You know, Susana, it's always interesting. I love listening to Meryl Streep, Viola Davis, Tom Hanks, at lahat ng mga mahuhusay.
07:23There's that Miss Jolie's, Angelina Jolie's, yeah, Actors and Actors interview with Cynthia Erivo. Napaka-interesante. Ngayon sa iyong buhay, after having done movies with the greatest of directors, may proseso ka? How do you attack a role? Paano ka pupunta sa karakter ni Sisa? May sinusunod kang, you know, I mean the process.
07:50Yeah. In a way, when I read my script, say ko nga kay June, napapanaginipan ko na yung mga eksena. My mind is trying to see, it's like a movie in my brain. I'm trying to see how I'm going to attack that scene and then I discuss it with him.
08:04So, umpisa pa lang nito, dapat ganito-ganito. Bait naman sila, they listen. Nagko-collaborate talaga kami. And here, the dialogue here shouldn't be like that because this is a confrontation. So, okay naman. So, I really internalize that and I get into my role as anybody.
08:23So, pumapasok talaga. Paglabas ko, pagtungtog ko na sa bahay ko, papasok na ako ng kotse. Sisa na ako. You know?
08:30Dumadating ka sa set. Sisa na ako.
08:32Oh, yeah. Tahimik na ako nunang konti. Of course, I say hello to everybody. So, masabihin mo, nataray ako. But, you know, I have to concentrate really hard in one corner and I have to do my lines, you know.
08:43And then, I have to make sure na yung gusto ng director ko tsaka yung gusto ko, pareho. Magsising kaming dalawa. Kasi may sarili siyang interpretation. But, director ko yan eh. So, I respect that. May sarili din ako sa pinag-uusapan naming dalawa, which I love about Jun.
09:01Okay. But, bago tayo nakarating dito, pag sinasabing Hilda Coronel, nakasundod ang pangalan ng dakilang Lino Broca.
09:09Yes.
09:10You're aware of that, no?
09:11Of course.
09:12So, Lino Broca at Hilda Coronel, ang pinag-uusapan dito ay ang mga dakilang pelikula po, katulad ng Insiang.
09:17Yes.
09:18Katulad ng Maynila.
09:19Maynila.
09:20Sa Kuku ng Liwanag.
09:22Let's go back to when you were doing Insiang. Paano ka minulat at paano ka hinubog ng isang director? Because I know Lino didn't believe in workshops.
09:32No, we didn't have. But, we had the Hilda show, if you remember, for almost six years.
09:36Right.
09:37And, we did Insiang as one of the episodes for the Hilda show.
09:40Naginawang pelikula.
09:42Yes, because 16 pa lang ako noon. And, Lino said, I promise you, by the time you reach 18, before you reach 18, I'm going to make you go to the top as the dramatic actress that you will be.
09:54And, he did.
09:55And, he did.
09:56Oo. So, paano si Lino as a director? Si Lino ba yung iba't-ibang klase ng director? I will show you how to do it. I will show you how I envision the role.
10:06May mga director, ito ang spasyo mo. You know, tell your story. I mean, bahala ka dyan. Paano kayo magtrabaho?
10:14We talk about the scene and what he wants and what, you know, kung gusto niyang kaliwa lang yung tears ko or sa kanan.
10:20You can do that, Susanne?
10:22Yes, in my youth. Okay, huwag na niyo nililimit.
10:24No, no, no. Hindi, hindi kita panggagawin noon. But, kaya mo yung, hindi pala miss yun, ha? Ang tono ng nuha ay sa kaliwa.
10:31Yeah, because the lighting is very important kay Lino. So, pag sabi niya gusto ko dito bumagsak yung luha mo, okay, ganyan.
10:37So, I do my best. But, he talks to me on the side and Lino knows me in and out. He knows all my stories, my, you know, my heartaches, everything, my personal stuff.
10:47I trust him with that. So, he would tell me, I want you to use your experience here. Gamitin mo dito sa eksena na ito.
10:55Oo.
10:56Okay, alam niya lahat eh. Parts of, actually parts of Inshang are parts of my life. And so are some of the movies that I have done.
11:05Like Hello Soldier is part of my life. So, he picks a little bit of that and expands it to become a film. Alam niya kasi yung story ako talaga eh.
11:14Oo. Ano ang pinaka-mahirap bilang artista?
11:20In the context of, is it easy getting into the character? Is it easier to get out, snap out of the character?
11:26Is it difficult to maintain, sustain a character while shooting? Ano ang pinaka-mahirap dito sa prosesong ito?
11:35Masu-sustain, syempre pag alis ko ng set, medyo ang adrenaline mo, medyo ano pa, right, you know, mataas pa.
11:42So, mahirap matulong. Pag uwi mo, gaalis ka ng make-up, parang naisip mo lagi, like I'm thinking, did I do it right?
11:49Did I, you know, tama ba yung ginawa ko? Even though people say it was excellent already, I'm always nitpicking.
11:56Kaya hindi ko pinapanood ng mga pelikula ko eh.
11:59Ah, you don't?
12:00I don't.
12:01Susan, anong ginagawa mo pag ang ka-eksena mo, halimbawa, hindi tumatakot, doesn't give you back anything?
12:07It's hard. Pat hindi naman ako magagalit, kaya lang syempre parang, like may ka-eksena ko sa isang eksena one time,
12:15and drama yun, and sometimes they're like in awe, pinapanood ka habang ginagawa, and I like my crying scenes to be take one.
12:22Kasi para sa akin, nagiging stale eh. Pag inulit-ulit ko, parang nare-rehearse eh.
12:27So, gusto ko pag talagang binigay ko yung my all, boom, isang sabog lang yun.
12:33So, minsan napapatakang sila sa ginagawa ko, and they go, they forget their lines.
12:37I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry I forgot my lines.
12:40Hindi naman ako magagalit, matatawal lang ako, pero it's like, okay, it's 4am, let's do it, okay?
12:45Okay. Pero you also realize that a lot of actors, lalo na ngayon yung mga baguhan, 12 years ago you did a movie,
12:51that you can be intimidating. I mean, this is you, La Coronel.
12:54I don't know why.
12:55If I were an actor, Susan, siguro, I wouldn't know what to do.
13:01Okay.
13:02You know what I'm saying?
13:03Yes, I understand.
13:04Your piece of advice to young actors?
13:06Just work hard. Just work hard and love your craft.
13:09And then treat, you know, it takes a village, I always say, to finish, to make a movie.
13:15So, treat everybody with respect and just be on time.
13:18It takes a village.
13:20Takes a village. Lahat siyan from the, you know, the crew, lahat siyan.
13:24So, I respect everybody from top to bottom.
13:26Parang hindi na ako makapag-antay. Gusto na kitang mapanood sa sisa.
13:31And it takes fast talk to do fast talk.
13:35You'll have to do fast talk, Susan.
13:37And we have two minutes to do this and our time begins now.
13:41Susan Hilda.
13:43Susan.
13:44Sosyal jologs.
13:46What jologs?
13:47Jologs.
13:48What's a jolog?
13:49How do you say jologs?
13:51Baduy.
13:52Huh?
13:53Baduy.
13:54Masa.
13:55Parang ganon?
13:56Baduy.
13:58Yun. Sosyal o hindi sosyal?
14:00Hindi sosyal.
14:01Pilipinas or America?
14:02Pilipinas.
14:03Mahusay or maganda?
14:04Maganda.
14:05Maamo or mataray?
14:06Mataray.
14:07Maarte or magaling umarte?
14:09Magaling umarte.
14:10Forever beautiful or forever sexy?
14:12Beautiful.
14:13Award winning or world class?
14:15Pareho.
14:16Award or box office?
14:18Pareho.
14:19Artistang tinarayan mo noon?
14:21Marami.
14:24Director na napagalitan ka?
14:26Ano wala.
14:27Showbiz crush noon?
14:29Wala.
14:30Leading man na muntik mong maging boyfriend?
14:32Marami.
14:35I won't tell though.
14:36I won't tell.
14:37Of course.
14:38Artistang Pinoy na hinahangaan mo?
14:40Marami.
14:42Pilikula mo na paborito mo?
14:44Inchang siyempre.
14:45Gagawing pilikulang buhay mo?
14:47Give it a title.
14:48Oh, I don't know what title.
14:51Hilda.
14:52Hilda lang siguro.
14:53Yeah.
14:54They want me to make a book actually.
14:56Gagawing pilikulang.
14:57That would be interesting.
14:58Sino ang gaganap na Hilda, Coronel?
15:00Ah, hahanap tayo.
15:01Mataray ka kapag?
15:03Pag nabinibwisit nila ako.
15:05Sweet ka kapag?
15:07All the time.
15:08Excited ka tuwing?
15:10Tuwing?
15:11Tuwing.
15:12When are you excited?
15:13When I'm doing a film.
15:15One word.
15:16Describe yourself as an actor.
15:18I think I'm very professional.
15:20As a mother?
15:21I think...
15:22My granddaughter's here.
15:23I think I'm a good mother.
15:24I try to be.
15:25As a wife?
15:26Yeah.
15:27I try.
15:28I do my best.
15:29As a wife?
15:30As a friend?
15:31I'm very loyal.
15:32Susan, lights on or lights off?
15:34Off.
15:35Happiness or chocolates?
15:39Chocolates.
15:40Best time for chocolates?
15:42Anytime.
15:43Complete the sentence.
15:44Ako si Hilda, Coronel.
15:45May kay ako kasi.
15:47May kay ako kasi gagigawin ko ang sisa.
15:51Please watch it.
15:54In the press conference that she had,
15:57sabi nila, and I love it,
15:59ang gold standard pagdating sa pag-arte
16:02ay si Hilda, Coronel.
16:04Is that a pleasure?
16:06I mean, how do you view that?
16:07Ang kasangutan.
16:08Tabagbabalik po ng Fast Talk.
16:10Good boy.
16:21The bag of the show.
16:23Pag sinasabi ngayon, Hilda,
16:24na ang gold standard ng pag-arte ay ikaw,
16:27ano ang iyong reaksyon?
16:29I hope I can live up to that hype, okay?
16:32And I don't want to offend the other actors
16:34and actresses that you don't work with me.
16:36But, you know, that's how they see you,
16:38so what can I do?
16:39Yeah, that's right.
16:40Very flattering, but I don't see myself like that.
16:44But you don't allow yourself to be pressured?
16:46Ah, no.
16:47Para sa'yo, sino ang mga pinaka-mahuhusay na artista?
16:51Madami.
16:52Katulad?
16:53Well, Nora's good, Vilma's good.
16:55You've worked with Attegay?
16:56Yeah, both of them.
16:57Attegay, a lot.
16:58With Viva.
16:59Okay.
17:00Through films.
17:01And then, I like Tindo Fernando.
17:03Of course.
17:04I love Eddie Garcia.
17:05I love Christopher DeLeon.
17:07You know, I love Bemboldt Shue and all that.
17:09There's a lot.
17:11Sa mga batang artista?
17:13Wala akong masyadong alam,
17:14kasi I was south of the country,
17:16and I took out my TFC
17:18because, I mean, I used to cry a lot
17:20when I would see, like, Christmas.
17:22You know, naiya kami mag-asawa.
17:24So, lalulungkot ako.
17:26Oh.
17:27Twenty years, you were in the U.S.?
17:29Almost, yes.
17:30Almost, yeah.
17:31Yeah, almost.
17:32But were there moments when you would miss acting?
17:37No.
17:38Talaga?
17:39Why not?
17:40I guess I've been at it for so long,
17:42since I was 12 years old,
17:44so I actually needed a break,
17:46and my husband said,
17:47I think it's time for you to stop already.
17:49You know, and yeah.
17:50So, actually, ang namiss ko yung country,
17:53the people.
17:54Right.
17:55I miss my children and my grandchildren.
17:57I miss my maids.
18:01No, I know there's a story sa Amerika
18:03na pag sinasabing, may mga maids yun sa Pilipinas.
18:05Yeah.
18:06You mean, do you have slaves?
18:07Parang ganun.
18:08Sabi ko, they live with us for, like, 30 years.
18:11And they become family.
18:12Yeah, they are family.
18:13They are family to us.
18:14Oo.
18:15Nagiging pamily atin dinawan.
18:16Merry Christmas.
18:17Merry Christmas.
18:18Paano?
18:19Paano ka mag-celebrate ang iyong Christmas?
18:21Ah, my children.
18:22Some of my children are flying in.
18:23One from Singapore.
18:24That's nice.
18:25Yeah, and some of them are here already.
18:27Yeah, so children, grandchildren,
18:29mainly family lang talaga.
18:30I'm going to be with my family.
18:32Susan, if you were to talk, last question,
18:34if you were to talk to the 12-year-old,
18:38I mean, you know, the 12-year-old, Susan,
18:40Hilda Coronel,
18:41Yeah.
18:42Ano sa sabihin mo sa kanya?
18:45I think I was very afraid at that time.
18:47And you would say?
18:48And I would say, well,
18:53Lakasan mo loob mo.
18:55Gusto mo maging artista.
18:57Kasi kinakalandad na ako ng nanay ko since I was young, eh.
19:00So, but I was so shy, boy.
19:02I didn't even know what that meant,
19:04yung maging artista ka.
19:06Okay, lakasan mo ang loob mo.
19:08Lakasan mo loob mo.
19:09Ngayon ba that you're going to do, Sisa,
19:11may ka ba ka pag gumagawa ng eksena?
19:14I think always a beginning at the beginning.
19:17So, parang, pero nawawala yun as you go along.
19:20That's right.
19:21So, umpisa lang yun parang, okay,
19:22lines, lights, cameras, et cetera, et cetera.
