00:00ENERGY EFFICIENCY
00:04Thanks to projects carried out since 2021 and aimed at respecting
00:08Europe's indicators on energy efficiency, in 2023,
00:12Italy obtained new energy savings for a total of 3.6 million
00:16equivalent tons of oil. This is one of the data
00:20that emerged from the 13th annual ENEA report on energy efficiency.
00:24ENEA obviously plays the role of a privileged observer,
00:28and this dynamic contributes to providing solutions
00:32and also prospecting possible actions
00:36to the competent ministries of action, involving all stakeholders
00:40who then, at various levels, participate in energy efficiency
00:44and, above all, also citizens. Let us remember that energy efficiency
00:48is done through the end user, so a change of behaviour is also needed
00:52and a collective sharing of the importance of energy efficiency
00:56in terms of positive outcomes from the point of view of savings
01:00and from the point of view of reducing pollution emissions.
01:04These are the results of a virtuous path in which the role
01:08of tax deductions, which have contributed to more than half
01:12of the total savings, has been the primary state. The weight of energy efficiency
01:16policies, incentives and obligations for large enterprises
01:20and energy companies is also important.
01:22At the national level, they are certainly encouraging.
01:26We have recognised a continuation of a positive trend
01:30in savings obtained, and this obviously gives us optimism.
01:36There are about 3.6 MTEP of savings obtained in 2023,
01:42to be counted in the objectives of the PNIEC.
01:47At the presentation event of the report held in Rome
01:50at Spazio Europa, experts from the institutions intervened,
01:54including the Minister of the Environment and Energy Security,
01:57Gilberto Pichetto-Fratin, and the President of the Bilancio Parliamentary Office,
02:01Lidia Cavallari.
02:02The first indication that emerges is the need to act quickly
02:07on the PNRR, in particular on projects related to energy efficiency.
02:14This is also important for a reason, and that is that these projects
02:20have an impact on the economy, on growth, which is higher
02:25than, for example, non-renewable energy projects.
02:30So the multiplier of investments in alternative energy,
02:34in renewable energy, is about twice the multiplier of investments
02:38in fossil energy.
02:39The ENEA, established in the 1960s, is the national agency for new technologies,
02:43energy and sustainable economic development.
02:46Its annual reports photograph at the national level the state
02:50and the evolution of measures for energy efficiency.
