The ousting of Syria's President Bashar al-Assad has sparked celebrations around Syria and beyond, and has prompted many to begin returning to their war-ravaged country. The United Nations estimates that some one million Syrians may go back in the first half of 2025, but is calling on states not to force them to do so.
