Almost 30 years ago, Mercedes-Benz Vans launched the first Sprinter. The new edition of the all-rounder will be launched in spring 2024 - even safer, more intelligent and more interactive, and just as diverse as before.

The heart of the all-wheel drive - which is available for the Sprinter chassis, the Tourer and panel van in various lengths and height variants and up to a weight class of 5.5 tonnes permissible total weight - is the torque-on-demand system with an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch integrated into the transfer case. This distributes the drive torque variably and as needed between the front and rear axles. It also impresses with its particularly quiet operation.

The Sprinter with all-wheel drive is available with the powerful and efficient OM 654 turbodiesel in the 140 kW/190 hp power level. The 2.0-liter four-cylinder with two-stage turbocharger mobilizes a torque of 450 Nm. In the Sprinter 4x4, Mercedes-Benz also combines the all-wheel drive with the 9G-TRONIC. The torque converter automatic transmission is characterized by reduced weight, low installation space requirements and high pulling power.

While still offering a high level of flexibility, the current Sprinter offers a significant increase in digital intelligence and safety. The MBUX multimedia system (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) is on board as standard, including a 26.04 centimeter (10.25 inch) touch display and instrument cluster with color display. Both screens can be operated intuitively via touch control panels on the new multifunction steering wheel. The high-tech steering wheel has capacitive sensors like a smartphone. This allows it to detect whether the hands are gripping the steering wheel (hands-off detection).
