00:23:20he decided he would try to place the book
00:23:22in his storage.

00:23:28storage with his beast crystals.

00:25:34a large beast stood inside the hangar.
00:25:36With the body of a human
00:25:38but the bottom half of a scorpion-like creature,
00:25:40Quinn couldn't make out
00:25:42what it was. From the human half of
00:25:44its body, it also had two claws
00:25:46on each side. Inspect!

00:25:52out what little information was available
00:25:54about the beast, Quinn quickly
00:25:56closed the door once again. Although
00:25:58Quinn had grown three levels while inside
00:26:00the container, he still felt like
00:26:02dealing with an intermediate beast would
00:26:04almost be impossible for him.
00:26:06The weakest of intermediate beasts
00:26:08were at least ten times stronger
00:26:10than a basic tier beast. Of course,
00:26:12this would depend on the beast, for there
00:26:14were some beasts that were just easier to deal
00:26:16with than others, no matter what tier
00:26:18they were at. But looking at the
00:26:20creature, Quinn could tell it would be a tough
00:26:22battle. After waiting for what felt
00:26:24like a considerable amount of time,
00:26:26he decided to open the door once again
00:26:28to check if the beast was still there.
00:26:30And unfortunately, it was.
00:26:32That was when Quinn noticed something
00:26:34else that was in the hangar that wasn't there
00:26:36before. There were three round objects
00:26:38right next to the Scordana
00:26:40placed in a pile of scrap metal.
00:26:42Are those eggs? Quinn thought.
00:26:44Inspect! Scordana
00:26:46eggs. Intermediate beast level.
00:26:48As he saw the eggs,
00:26:50a horrible thought had entered his mind.
00:26:52Quinn hadn't noticed them before,
00:26:54meaning she must have just laid them out
00:26:56while he was in the container, or
00:26:58they might have been hidden somewhere.
00:27:00But the first was more likely. Now the fact
00:27:02that her eggs were here meant the beast
00:27:04would protect them until they hatched,
00:27:06or at least it wouldn't be moving for a
00:27:08while. This felt like a risky option
00:27:10for Quinn, for he himself was on
00:27:12a time frame. Then there was

00:27:58he could see something else entering from
00:28:00the other side. It was a rataclaw.

00:28:04As soon as the rataclaw pulled its body
00:28:06through the small hole, it immediately
00:28:08looked up to see Quinn. Before
00:28:10he even had a chance to run away,
00:28:12rataclaw started squealing like mad.
00:28:14Shut up! Why did you have to
00:28:16come here now of all times?
00:28:18Then the sound of several steps was
00:28:20heard from behind. Quinn didn't have
00:28:22time to turn around to know what it was,
00:28:24but he did so anyway, and as he did,
00:28:26a giant claw was swung down
00:28:28towards his head. Now that the
00:28:30Scordana had spotted Quinn, he had no
00:28:32choice but to stand his ground and fight.
00:28:34As the scorpion creature turned,
00:28:36it immediately started charging forward.
00:28:38Hoping to scare it away and do
00:28:40some damage, Quinn let out two blood
00:28:42swipes. As the
00:28:44blood swipe made impact, the scorpion
00:28:46was pushed back a few steps, but
00:28:48no damage could be seen, not even
00:28:50a white scratch mark on the claws.
00:28:52As Quinn looked and inspected the creature
00:28:54even closer, he could see that
00:28:56every part of the beast was covered in
00:28:58some type of shell, apart from the upper
00:29:00body. That was the beast's weak point,
00:29:02and that's where he needed to hit.
00:29:04Then as Quinn readied his hand
00:29:06to cast his blood swipe skill,
00:29:08he felt a sharp pain in his back.
00:29:10As he looked up, he could see something
00:29:12connected to his body, and when he followed
00:29:14it, it went behind the beast.
00:29:16The beast then lifted Quinn with the
00:29:18tail and chucked him hard up against
00:29:20the wall. As he fell to the ground,
00:29:22his HP had taken a huge hit.
00:29:24As Quinn looked into his stomach,
00:29:26he could see a large puncture had been
00:29:28created, and blood was quickly flowing
00:29:30out of his body. Critical
00:29:32hit, 10 of 45 HP,
00:29:34blood bank empty,
00:29:3635 of 45 HP.
00:29:38With his health nearly full,
00:29:40his wounds had healed up almost instantly,
00:29:42and Quinn was able to move once
00:29:44again. Looking at the scorpion,
00:29:46he noticed the tail truly wasn't there.
00:29:48Is it able to take it into
00:29:50his body and out at will? This is going
00:29:52to be a pain. There were no more
00:29:54second chances. A battle
00:29:56of strength was being displayed between the
00:29:58two. The red swipes were powerful
00:30:00and started to knock the beast back,
00:30:02and eventually, even the claws started
00:30:04to crack, but neither of them gave up.

00:30:10enough, finally the tail was revealed
00:30:12from above. While its claws
00:30:14covered and blocked its body from the swipes,
00:30:16its plan was to attack from above
00:30:18with its long, large tail.

00:30:22just before the tail could pierce Quinn again,

00:31:20eggs. He took a few steps back
00:31:22before lifting it into the air and
00:31:24slamming it into the ground.
00:31:26Black blood had been splattered all across
00:31:28the floor, and a little half-grown scorpion
00:31:30could be seen inside.

00:32:18about just where the portal would be.
00:32:20All he knew was that they had to place it somewhere
00:32:22safe. Somewhere, the beasts
00:32:24wouldn't be able to get to it. As he walked
00:32:26through the city, he decided to tread
00:32:28very carefully. Once in a while, he would
00:32:30come across a building with beasts inside.
00:32:32As he entered the buildings, there would be
00:32:34cases where Quinn had spotted them far
00:32:36up ahead in the darkness. He quickly
00:32:38would shift and hide in the shadows,
00:32:40or behind walls, waiting for the beasts
00:32:42to leave, and when he was ready, he would
00:32:44zoom past and around.

00:32:48The hunger in his belly was starting to distract
00:32:50him, and it was getting harder for him to
00:32:52focus as his health had gone down.
00:32:54Then finally, Quinn had spotted
00:32:56another building that was relatively
00:32:58in good condition. The training center,
00:33:00a place where travelers could come and test out
00:33:02their skills, or practice with new
00:33:04equipment. As Quinn got closer to the
00:33:06dome building, he noticed that there were several
00:33:08mechs stationed outside that had
00:33:10been destroyed, their cores
00:33:12completely ripped out. Mechs
00:33:14were a powerful device used in the
00:33:16war, but to power them, they required
00:33:18an incredibly powerful beast crystal
00:33:20of a high tier. As he reached the
00:33:22entrance of the training center, he could see
00:33:24that two rataclaws were standing out
00:33:26in front of the building. He decided to
00:33:28wait a little longer, hoping that the
00:33:30rataclaws might move. 10 of 50
00:33:32HP. But as he saw
00:33:34the message bring his health down once again,
00:33:36he was only getting even more aggravated.
00:33:38The rats didn't look like they would
00:33:40be leaving anytime soon, and
00:33:42Quinn needed to come up with a plan.

00:33:46broken piece of the mech nearby. He
00:33:48picked it up, and looked off into the distance.
00:33:50Using all his strength, he threw the
00:33:52piece of metal a great distance.
00:33:54The piece of metal landed exactly
00:33:56where he was aiming for, making a
00:33:58large clang sound as it fell on the mech.
00:34:00The rats then looked up at where the noise was
00:34:02coming from, and quickly scurried off
00:34:04in the direction of the sound. This is my chance!
00:34:06Quinn, using all the powers in his
00:34:08legs, bolted for the entrance.
00:34:10He tried pushing the steel doors open,
00:34:12but there was no luck. As he looked around
00:34:14the door for anything, he spotted another
00:34:16access code machine. He immediately
00:34:18rushed forward, placing his hand on the
00:34:20machine and used his inspect skill.

00:35:10too close to the four rats. Flashstep
00:35:12only had a distance of 5 meters at
00:35:14most. The rats turned, and all ran
00:35:16forward, towards him. I have no choice!

00:36:14a canteen of sorts, with several seats
00:36:16and a desk at the front. With his
00:36:18health running low, he had less than two hours
00:36:20to find the portal. Quinn
00:36:22fell to his knees in despair. He felt
00:36:24like this was his last chance.
00:36:26There was no way he had the time to go walking
00:36:28around the city, looking for another room
00:36:30with a portal. 1 of 50 HP.

00:38:22As the two of them climbed on top of the fallen
00:38:24shelf, they could see that they had been surrounded.
00:38:26I thought you were keeping a lookout,
00:38:28Ian said. I was, but the small
00:38:30space would only let me see so far.
00:38:32They were completely surrounded, not
00:38:34just around them, but also above as well.
00:38:36A few of the slug creatures dropped from
00:38:38above, while the ones around them reached out
00:38:40with their tentacles. There were too many

00:42:48its tracks. Then, using its nails,
00:42:50it dug into Ian's fist,
00:42:52drawing out blood. As it smelled the
00:42:54blood fall from Ian's hands, it started
00:42:56to growl and screech even more.
00:42:58It opened its mouth, revealing two
00:43:00huge fangs. Then, the beast lifted
00:43:02both of its legs off the ground and
00:43:04kicked Ian away, causing him to fly
00:43:06into the nearby wall.
00:43:08It started to rush forward as it saw
00:43:10Ian was injured, but before it could reach him,
00:43:12a metal chair from the stand came flying
00:43:14out from the side and knocked
00:43:16the beast away. Vorden quickly
00:43:18rushed to Ian's side and lifted him off
00:43:20the ground. Thanks, kid.
00:43:22What was that? Vorden asked.
00:43:24I don't know. I've never seen anything like it,
00:43:26but it looked like a humanoid-type beast.
00:43:28Ian replied. The chair
00:43:30didn't keep the beast down for long, as the
00:43:32smell of blood was too strong.
00:43:34Turn on your light stone, Ian said.
00:43:36As the two of them turned on the light stone,
00:43:38the beast suddenly stopped.
00:43:40It covered its eyes and backed away from the two.
00:43:42It looks like I was right, said Ian.
00:43:44That beast must have been the one to take
00:43:46out all the lights. It looks like it's super sensitive.
00:43:48But the two were foolish,
00:43:50thinking the light stones would be enough to
00:43:52keep the bloodsucker away from its prey.
00:43:54The beast didn't need to rely on
00:43:56its eyesight to know where the two were.

00:44:14one was ripped from the stands.
00:44:16Then, the beast decided to rush
00:44:18forward with its eyes closed. As it got
00:44:20close to the two, it started to attack them
00:44:22blindly. How does it know where we are?
00:44:24Ian said. Vorden, get out of there!
00:44:26Raiton said. What do you mean?
00:44:28Vorden asked. Can't you see?
00:44:30The beast is only attacking Ian.
00:44:32Something is attracting it to Ian.
00:44:34With Raiton's words, Vorden decided
00:44:36to break away from Ian and ran down
00:44:38to the arena floor, and just like he said,

00:46:32into his shoulder and dropped it onto
00:46:34the floor.

00:46:38an attack and charging in though,
00:46:40the bloodsucker dug its claw into the wall
00:46:42and started to climb upwards.
00:46:44How are we meant to see him now, said
00:46:46Vorden. It's too dark and the beast can attack
00:46:48from anywhere. He lifted his hands
00:46:50and started to crumble up each of the chairs
00:46:52into several metal spikes,
00:46:54all looming above his head. The other
00:46:56spears that were targeted had managed
00:46:58to penetrate him, going through his body
00:47:00and sticking him to the ceiling of the dome.
00:47:02However, the hole marks that could
00:47:04be seen in his body quickly healed up.
00:47:06This thing, why isn't it dead yet?
00:47:08Vorden said. Its eyes were
00:47:10slowly adjusting to the light that had
00:47:12surrounded Vorden, and now it could see
00:47:14the spikes as it left his side.
00:47:16The bloodsucker continued to move forward,
00:47:18avoiding each and every spike thrown at it.
00:47:20Then, when it was close enough,
00:47:22it swung its claw out.
00:47:24As it took a step forward though, it felt
00:47:26something sharp pierce into its foot.
00:47:28As the beast looked down, it was
00:47:30another metal spike. It looked
00:47:32in the distance and noticed that Ian had
00:47:34managed to recover. Suddenly though,
00:47:36tears started to fall from the little one's face.
00:47:38Now that the beast was close enough,
00:47:40the light from the stone shone and reviled
00:47:42the face and clothes of the beast.
00:47:44The beast in front of him
00:47:46was wearing the same uniform,
00:47:48and although it didn't look exactly like Quinn,
00:47:50it had similar qualities in its face.
00:47:52He didn't know what happened to make
00:47:54Quinn turn into a creature like this,
00:47:56but he could feel that the beast and Quinn
00:47:58was the same person.
00:48:00What are you doing? Ian shouted. Kill it!
00:48:02Ian then pulled out his trusty dagger,
00:48:04ready to attack, but when he looked
00:48:06in front of him, the beast had vanished from his view.
00:48:08The next second, he was staring up
00:48:10at the ceiling with his back on the floor.
00:48:12Then, when he looked down at his body,
00:48:14his legs were now completely detached
00:48:16from himself, blood pouring from them.
00:48:18The bloodsucker then dragged the top half
00:48:20of Ian's body away, into the hallway
00:48:22out of the arena, afraid that the
00:48:24other person might disturb its meal.
00:48:26The students had just been informed
00:48:28that the portal expedition that was meant
00:48:30to be going on today would be cancelled.
00:48:32Layla had been planning to confront Peter
00:48:34on the situation, especially since he
00:48:36had been acting so strangely, but before
00:48:38she could even get to him, he had already run away.

00:50:16reaching the group's legs and freezing

00:56:48and a clicking sound was heard.

00:56:52around in circles for a few seconds
00:56:54before it finally completely lit up.

01:03:25He ran down the empty street,
01:03:27not knowing where he was heading.
01:03:29But the Raticlas were fast, and would soon
01:03:31catch up. That's when Quinn
01:03:33spotted a building, one that was far
01:03:35less damaged than the others. He went
01:03:37inside, but the space was still too
01:03:39large. He then spotted a stairway
01:03:41to his right nearby.
01:03:43After quickly running up the stairway,
01:03:45and reaching the first platform, he
01:03:47stopped and turned. He knew he had
01:03:49no choice but to fight back. With his
01:03:51palm open facing downward, he was
01:03:53ready. Time to test you out.
