00:00I'm Hugh Evans, I'm the secretary of Bargoat Rugby Club, our senior team are in the championship
00:10and we've just won the championship final so we're doing really well.
00:14We run a number of teams, we've got two senior teams, a youth team and we run all age grades
00:21from tiny tots up to under 15s.
00:25We have around about 200 kids playing rugby, young people playing rugby and the volunteers
00:30we have probably in excess of 60 people volunteer to make that happen.
00:35Volunteers are massively important to the club.
00:37If we didn't have these volunteers, these people who give up their free time, we just
00:40wouldn't be able to provide this for the children.
00:44We've been going for 140 years and we don't want it to stop now.
00:47I've nominated a few people this year, hopefully we'll do more in the years to come but with
00:53Nicola she's done for many years, she was our safeguarding officer.
00:56It's not a job that many people want to do, a lot of the work she does is behind the scenes.
01:04She makes sure that all our coaches, all our volunteers have the appropriate checks in
01:09place so we keep a safe environment for the children.
01:12She's certainly been a big help to me, I've been secretary for about three or four years,
01:16there's a lot to learn and safeguarding was one of the things that I had to turn to Nicola
01:20to support me and she's been a massive help.
01:22She does it without any question, she's unflappable and she gives a lot of help and support to
01:29everybody throughout the whole of the club.
01:31Diolch Nicola!
