00:00The Resident Evil movies are undoubtedly gigantic hits at the box office, having raked in over
00:05$244 million since the premiere of the first film in 2012.
00:10And while these movies are definitely a departure from the games that inspired them, we still
00:15get to see some of our favorite characters on the big screen.
00:18Let's put the likes of Claire Redfield, Jill Valentine, and other Resident Evil mainstays
00:22under the scope, and check how the cast of Resident Evil should really look.
00:27Chris Redfield
00:28One of the most iconic characters in the Resident Evil series, many fans know Chris Redfield
00:33for destroying doors, smashing the heads of bio-organic weapons, and some of the worst
00:38acting in video game history.
00:40You did a really good job.
00:43This case was just too weird.
00:46This case was…
00:48His enormous, bulging muscles were his true weapons, but he still whipped out a firearm
00:54to get some real work done.
00:55Despite his importance to the games, he doesn't appear on the big screen until the fourth
00:59film in the series, where he's played by Wentworth Miller.
01:02Obviously, Miller isn't quite as jacked as his digital counterpart, but he's just as
01:07tough.
01:08His screen outfits are far from what Chris Redfield wore in the video games.
01:11Instead of short sleeves with BSAA patches on them, he wears some kind of tactical field
01:16jacket.
01:17He's got plenty of gear strapped onto his torso, but his all-gray ensemble just makes
01:21him look like a bootleg Ghostbuster.
01:24Claire Redfield
01:25Ali Larsa breathes life into Claire Redfield, sister to Chris and heroine to Resident Evil
01:30fans everywhere.
01:31On the big screen, Claire doesn't keep her signature ponytail, but she does retain her
01:35vest.
01:36We're not sure where you can pick up vests that feature little pockets for combat knives,
01:40but it's probably safe to assume it's not actually a thing in real life.
01:43And if it is, don't lie, you'd probably use it for hot dogs anyhow.
01:47Also absent are the gloves and Claire's black, short-sleeved turtleneck, all making the big-screen
01:52Claire more badass than the original.
01:54And given that a ponytail is basically just a handlebar designed to be grabbed by undead
01:58monsters, maybe letting her hair down was a good tactical decision.
02:02Jill Valentine
02:04Tube top?
02:05Check.
02:06Short brunette hair in a bob cut?
02:08Check.
02:09Miniskirt?
02:10Check.
02:11Sienna Guillory's Jill Valentine seems to be the most accurate portrayal of a Resident
02:14Evil character possible.
02:15Sure, this was only her dressed-down look for Resident Evil 3, and post-apocalyptic
02:20heroes fighting through hordes of biting enemies should probably put on a coat or something,
02:24but let's all appreciate the risks she takes to look good.
02:27In Resident Evil Retribution, Jill returns as a blonde villainess, which is a pitch-perfect
02:31version of her evil form in Resident Evil 5, complete with the device on her chest and
02:36her one-piece outfit.
02:38Albert Wesker
02:39As far as bad guys go, Albert Wesker is one of the most arrogant.
02:43"'Seven minutes' is all I can spare to play with you."
02:49If his glowing, red eyes weren't a dead giveaway that he's evil, then maybe his frosted tips
02:53are.
02:54In Resident Evil Afterlife, we see him played by actor Sean Roberts.
02:58He's got the sunglasses, and those tips definitely seem frosted.
03:01But something about him still feels a little… off.
03:04Perhaps it's because Sean Roberts was only in his mid-twenties when he filmed the role,
03:08and Wesker is supposed to be much older, like he was in Resident Evil Extinction, when he
03:12was played by Jason O'Mara.
03:14Other than that, everything's pretty spot-on.
03:17Black leather and bad guys just go together.
03:20Leon Kennedy
03:21Not as brawny as Chris, Leon Kennedy is still one of the coolest characters in Resident
03:25Evil.
03:26But there are some stark differences between his appearance in Resident Evil 4 and actor
03:30Johan Erb's version in Resident Evil Retribution.
03:33Basically, it was just too difficult to find someone with Leon's hair, which director Paul
03:38W.S.
03:39Anderson confirmed in an interview with Collider.
03:42Ada Wong
03:43We see the acrobatic Ada Wong portrayed by actress Bing Bing Lee in Resident Evil Retribution,
03:48wearing her signature red outfit, which is a fairly faithful representation of the video
03:53game character, from the hairstyle down to the yellow butterflies on her dress.
03:57The accuracy of the portrayal is so impressive that it looks like Ada stepped out of the
04:01game's code and into the movie.
04:03She even performs that incredible disarm using a front handspring kick in the movie.
04:07This one's just perfect.
04:13Carlos Oliveira
04:15Resident Evil 3 Nemesis was Carlos Oliveira's first video game appearance, helping Jill
04:20Valentine escape the zombie-infested Raccoon City.
04:23In the films, he's portrayed by Oded Fair, who you might remember as Ardeth Bay from
04:28The Mummy.
04:29For some reason, Fair just can't escape the undead.
04:31As you might be able to tell, there's a big difference between the small-screen and big-screen
04:35characters.
04:36Fair is supposed to be youthful, with medium-length hair, whereas Fair is more mature with a shorter
04:41haircut and more of a desert soldier look.
04:43It's not an unpleasant departure from the original character's look, but it's a surprising
04:47change when compared to the accuracy of the other characters.
04:51Barry Burton
04:52Whenever we think of sandwiches, we think of the majestically bearded Barry Burton.
04:56That was too close.
04:59You were almost a Jill sandwich.
05:01You're right.
05:02Barry, thanks for saving my life.
05:05In Resident Evil Retribution, the beard is brought to life by Kevin Durant, who wears
05:09a red vest and assortment of straps and holsters similar to that of the original character
05:13design.
05:14The biggest difference is that Kevin Durant's face is just too friendly.
05:18The video game character looks a lot more hardened in later iterations of the series.
05:22But hey, much respect for the attention to detail on the outfits.
05:25It's almost enough to make you forgive how nobody spoke of sandwiches.
05:29Almost.
