General Hospital’s Evan Hofer Reflects on His Character's Shocking Death

00:00You know, that last shot really makes Dex look pretty dead.

00:03No, it's, you know, it was really cool because I got to, um, I got to work with Jeff Kober

00:10who plays Cyrus Renaud on the show.

00:12He's this, you know, serial killer and kind of, you know, monster of a character.

00:16But Jeff is such an incredible man and an incredible actor.

00:19So for those final scenes, I knew I really wanted to bring the heat.

00:23I told, I told Jeff that too.

00:24I was like, I prepped extra hard for you because I knew you were going to be here

00:27and I was showing up for you.

00:29Um, so getting to do those with him and, you know, kind of a twist death where you think,

00:34oh, is Dex going to make it through the stabbing?

00:36And then he does.

00:37And then all of a sudden you think he's fine.

00:39And bam, he's, he's dead.

00:41He crashed.

00:42He's dead.

00:43And it's also kind of cool because, you know, it's kind of how Dex was going to get Cyrus

00:50in the hospital when he was working for Sonny.

00:52So it's this kind of twist of fate, fairy soap opera.

00:56You know, for me, it was really top to bottom.

00:59Just what a, what a fun acting opportunity.

01:02It was always, wow, what a cool story to tell.

01:04This was always the story and it was going to be told.

01:07And I was just, you know, trying to do it the best I could and really soak in those

01:12incredible scenes, final scenes with all these people that I love.

01:15You know, as an actor, like you said, we, we kind of know that this is a,

01:19it's a gig industry, right?

01:20It always is.

01:21It always is.

01:22And so for me, from my very first day at General Hospital, I,

01:25I was just grateful for every day.

01:26I said, whether or not I was going to walk in and say,

01:29you got it boss 18 times that day,

01:31or whether I had an incredible emotional monologue or got to do cool action

01:34scenes, whatever I was doing, I was just grateful for every day.

01:37So, you know, upon leaving, you know,

01:39it really was a second home to me for the last two and a half years.

01:42And I couldn't have loved it anymore or love the people anymore.

01:47But it's time for the next adventure.
