00:10In the jungle of Bohol, a very dangerous bird has been spotted. What kind of bird is it?

00:20While the D&R Region 7 members were fishing, in the jungle of Bohol, their eyes were wide open.

00:25What they saw was not a Tarsier, but a Jassi, a very common bird to be spotted on the island.

00:31It is called Hematurugopia, or Abukai.

00:35We went to the forested area of Barangay Magsaysay, Sibiliya, Bohol.

00:40Around 3 p.m., we were photographed by our fellow, lying on a palm tree.

00:46There were two of them.

00:47The risk of species extinction is high.

00:50We need to have data so that we can do conservation efforts.

00:54Abukai is also called Red-Vented Cockatoo, or Philippine Cockatoo.

00:58It is an endemic bird in the Philippines.

01:00Its feathers are white, while its wings and tails are yellow and red.

01:08It is very beautiful.

01:09But did you know that this bird is very dangerous?

01:18In the 1980s, Abukai, or Philippine Cockatoo, can be found in many places in our jungle.

01:24But since then, their population has decreased by 60% to 90% as a result of the illegal wildlife trade.

01:31In the past, they were found in many islands in the country.

01:34Now, they are mostly found in the Palawan and Sumnalama Islands.

01:39They are also critically endangered if considered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

01:43Let's take care of the remaining Abukai before it's too late.
