00:00For an update on the situation in Negros Island following the volcano eruption this Monday, let's talk to the Office of Civil Defense Assistant Secretary Raffy Alejandro, the 4th.
00:09Good morning and welcome to Balitang Hali.
00:12Yes, Raffy. Good afternoon.
00:15How are the people of Negros Island affected by the eruption of Volcano Canaon?
00:20Is it possible for them to celebrate Christmas in the evacuation center?
00:24Yes, there is a high possibility that they will celebrate Christmas in the evacuation center because PBOCS told us that the volcano should be observed for a minimum of three weeks.
00:38We are on alert level 3, so we need to evacuate those who are in the 6-kilometer permanent danger zone.
00:45Currently, there are 17,000 people in the evacuation centers.
00:50Our target is almost 85,000 people or 17,000 families.
00:58Our effort to help the local government unit is still ongoing to evacuate our countrymen who are in the permanent danger zone.
01:09You are not able to monitor those who are getting sick, especially those who have pets.
01:13Where can they be evacuated if they have pets?
01:17Yes. Aside from the 25 evacuation centers for people, we are establishing evacuation centers for their pets.
01:27It is also being advocated by LGUs because that is one of our problems.
01:32They don't want to leave their pets and they need to be addressed.
01:40Local government units and DAs and NGAs are addressing this issue so that their pets can be used safely.
01:50Are there more people getting sick because of the ashfall?
01:54So far, we have not reported from DOH.
01:59But we are continuously monitoring the air quality around the volcano, especially those who are in the 6-kilometer or 8-kilometer.
02:08We are monitoring it every day.
02:11DOH is prepared to address any possible feeling of being hit by the wind.
02:19DOH is prepared. They are deploying teams.
02:23The evacuation centers will be monitored by DOH to monitor their health.
02:32The OCD Western Visayas issued an aerial inspection of the volcano Canlaon.
02:37It is currently in progress. Do we have an update on the situation there?
02:41Yes. So far, the aerial survey with PHIVOX and OCD was just completed this morning.
02:47We are waiting for the official report from PHIVOX.
02:50But so far, the alert level 3 will remain the same.
02:54We are monitoring all the possibilities of the eruption.
03:02We are continuously coordinating with PHIVOX.
03:05Hopefully, once their assessment is completed,
03:08because there are many factors that they will study,
03:11we will know within the day the results of their aerial survey.
03:17Okay. Thank you very much for your time this afternoon.
03:21Thank you very much also, Raffy. Good noon.
