00:46After a series of escalating, heated, and increasingly personal diss tracks,
00:51Lamar dropped this no-holds-barred Drake deconstruction.

02:14Thankfully for Tinashe, and for listeners, a viral TikTok by user Nate D. Weiner,
02:20which featured Nasty dubbed over its original audio, went massively viral.
02:25The viral dance trend that emerged gained further traction once Tinashe herself responded to it,
02:31sending Nasty to the Billboard Hot 100,
02:34the singer's first appearance on the chart since a decade earlier.

03:55Be honest, did you have a Brat Summer?
03:57After years of cult fandom and critical acclaim,
04:00British hyper-pop mainstay Charli XCX finally smashed through to the next level of fame in 2024.
04:07Released as a single at the peak heat of Brat Summer,
04:10Apple, the Brat album's final single, bloomed in a spectacular way.

04:23The heartfelt song, which details Charli's fraught relationship with her parents,
04:28proved to be a sleeper hit, yielding a viral dance craze on TikTok and across social media
04:34as a whole. The Apple dance bubbled up for some weeks after the album's release before Charli
04:40herself, alongside Troye Sivan, indulged. The rest is, of course, history.

04:54Number 6. Birds of a Feather – Billie Eilish
05:04Longtime Eilish fans may have initially reacted with surprise upon hearing the seemingly sweet

05:14you'll see Eilish's trademark darkness buried just beneath the surface.

05:28Described by critics as borrowing from 80s New Wave music, Birds of a Feather describes
05:33Billie's commitment to a relationship with a partner that doesn't seem to share her feelings.

05:55Number 5. Million Dollar Baby – Tommy Richman
05:59If this song made your head spin, considering how quickly it blew up to become the song of the
06:10summer, then you wouldn't be alone. Prior to Million Dollar Baby's initial release,
06:15the then-little-known Richman was best known for collaborating with R&B singer
06:20Brent Fiaz, as well as having toured with him.
06:29After dropping previews of the song on his TikTok account, curiosity skyrocketed,
06:34and Million Dollar Baby went viral pretty much right away at the time of its release.
06:38Richman was propelled to instant fame, and the song was acclaimed by critics,
06:43who praised the song's smooth, funky vibes. As if that wasn't enough,
06:48Million Dollar Baby ended up soundtracking a number of viral TikTok trends.
07:00Number 4. Good Luck Babe – Chappelle Roane
07:11Going into 2024, you could understandably be forgiven for not knowing who Chappelle Roane was.
07:17Exiting the year, you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who doesn't.
07:21Not unlike fellow pop songstress Tinashe and Charli XCX, Roane spent years working
07:27toward her dream of success in the music industry with little success.
07:39The outspoken singer finally hit it out of the park with Good Luck Babe,
07:43released in April 2024. The song almost immediately catapulted Roane to A-list
07:49levels of fame. Peaking at number four on the Billboard Hot 100, Good Luck Babe was
07:54acclaimed across the board for its groundbreaking take on LGBTQ plus themes. And with a chorus
08:00that instantly iconic, we totally see why Roane earned the title of Midwest Princess.
08:14Number 3. Espresso – Sabrina Carpenter
08:22Did anyone, save for Chappelle Roane, have as good of a year as Sabrina Carpenter?

08:59it's even been argued that Espresso's occasionally inscrutable lyrics have been
09:03the source of its staying power. Number 2. APT – Rosé and Bruno Mars
09:25You can always count on prolific modern-day master of pop Bruno Mars for effortlessly,
09:31instantly memorable pop anthems. Mars, born Peter Gene Hernandez, stayed true to this
09:37reputation in 2024, dropping this almost painfully catchy, Korean drinking game-inspired
09:44jam alongside the epic Lady Gaga collab, Die With a Smile. The two songs couldn't be more
09:59different. The Gaga-featuring ballad is a sweeping, emotional ballad. But APT,
10:05a collaboration with Blackpink member Rosé, is unmistakable bubblegum pop with a little bit of
10:1160s, a taste of the 80s, and a healthy helping of Mars' timeless songwriting sensibilities.
