00:00Authorities are now studying the expansion of the mandatory evacuation of those who live near the volcano Canlaon.
00:09Everyone is worried, especially since there is a risk of bad weather next week.
00:15Maris Umali has the latest.
00:17This is Maris Umali.
00:47We will assess this on a day-to-day basis, but again, the alert level 3 means that a hazardous eruption is possible in the next few weeks.
01:02But of course, we will have to evaluate this one. We will see if it will escalate further.
01:09The mandatory evacuation of residents living within a 6-kilometer radius permanent danger zone is still in force.
01:16The LGUs should urge the public to prepare for possible alert.
01:20Step up to alert level 4 should the activity persist or worsen.
01:24We should not think that the alert level will be lowered down, but we should prepare as if the alert level will go up.
01:33The scope of the mandatory evacuation is still being studied because there is a risk of bad weather.
01:40Tropical cyclones are expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility next week.
01:45We are doing already a worst-case scenario planning wherein our planning is already reaching 10 kilometers.
01:53When it comes to the worst-case scenario, the extended PDC is already within 10 kilometers.
02:00Almost 139,000 individuals need to be evacuated.
02:09That will require additional evacuation centers, additional food assistance, and the likes.
02:17DSWD assured that they are ready to serve all evacuees.
02:21The Department of Health has already sent medicines, N95 masks, and nutrition commodities.
02:27The Department of Tourism is suspending tourism activities such as trekking, swimming, and farm site visits,
02:35particularly in tourist spots in La Castellana, La Carlota City, Bagos City, and Murcia Negros Occidental,
02:42as well as in Canlaon City in Negros Oriental.
02:45For GMA Integrated News, I'm Maryse Umali for 24 Hours.
