Streetstyle football at Mall of the Emirates
Transcript
00:00This is freestyle soccer, not your average scene at the Mall of the Emirates on a leisurely
00:25Friday afternoon.
00:27A quick Ronaldinho heel pass or bicycle kick just isn't enough these days to wow a crowd.
00:33This is a new fad where young players get to show off their ball tricks.
00:47Red Bull were in town bringing together the UAE's street star soccer talent.
00:52The rules are simple, two players face off against each other.
00:56They have three minutes to show their flashiest moves and impress the judges.
01:18Among the judges was UAE footballer Behid Saad.
01:21They were all looking to see who had the most original technique and imagination to win the
01:25competition.
01:37So who impressed the crowd the most?
01:40It was a tough call for the judges.
01:42But don't let that broken foot fool you.
01:44Eighteen-year-old Mahir Ali topped the bill with his one-legged ball control.
02:00The Egyptian-born footballer will now head to Brazil to compete against the world's best
02:04street stylers.
02:05And if he only needed one leg to win the UAE competition, he may well fancy his chances
02:11when the plaster cast comes off.
