00:00Swamiji, I have seen nowadays that there is a trend that people are becoming obese. People
00:21find it cool among themselves. It's like so funky, it's cool.
00:26Swamiji, it's not really good nowadays. So, I think that these people or the people who
00:45does this, they should be given some knowledge of spirituality. Actually, they don't know
00:52the real meaning of spirituality. So, Swamiji, what should be done in order to make them feel,
00:58make them sense, make them true sense of spirituality among themselves so that they can
01:06experience the beauty of life, they can experience the beauty of living.
01:11So, Swamiji, that was my question.
01:13See, if theism is about believing in a particular God, then spirituality is not at all theistic.
01:27Religion might believe in God and Gods. Spirituality believes in no God. Spirituality
01:35believes in nothing. Spirituality is not at all about beliefs.
01:38Spirituality is about inquiry into the truth. And if a person does not believe
01:48in a fictional God, it is no problem as far as spirituality is concerned.
01:55So, a fellow might not believe in God and that's alright. But for sure that fellow believes in
02:02himself. He may say that God does not exist. It's okay. But that fellow would admit that he does
02:11exist. So, let's say there is someone by the name Rajiv. Rajiv says God does not exist and
02:19spirituality has no problems with that. Spirituality at no point says that you have to believe in a God.
02:26Spirituality is about the truth, not God at all. In fact, spirituality demolishes all Gods.
02:36So, Rajiv does not believe in God. He'll say, oh, there is no God. But will he also say there
02:41is no Rajiv? He will say Rajiv does exist. Now, spirituality is about investigating
02:50who this Rajiv is. And when you go into who this Rajiv is, who says I am Rajiv,
02:59then you figure out that a lot of little petty useless things have come together
03:06to be bundled under the name of Rajiv.
03:10A lot of identities coming from miscellaneous places,
03:20a lot of random events, they all have come together to become Rajiv.
03:30But then there is also a Rajiv who comes to know of all this. And this knowing, this understanding
03:38is not something that has come from somewhere. It is not something that can be borrowed. Why?
03:44Because all that is borrowed can be looked at by this understanding.
03:54Understanding is that which looks at all that you are not, all that you have just
04:03just gathered and borrowed from here and there.
04:11Once you see clearly that that which you call as your existence is largely a borrowed bundle,
04:21a random basket, then you are disidentified
04:38with most of that which you thought of as yourself.
04:43Something remains after the disidentification. We have called that as understanding.
04:53Consciousness without content. All content was borrowed.
04:58All content was borrowed.
05:03Even after the content is put aside, I am and this I am-ness is the truth.
05:14This is the subject matter of spirituality. This is what Vedanta goes into. Who am I?
05:21Vedanta admits no gods at all. You can very well be an atheist and still be spiritual. In fact,
05:31it is better if you are an atheist because if you go to Vedanta
05:39with your baggage of gods and goddesses, Vedanta is anyway going to snatch them away from you.
05:46Your gods and goddesses are just part of your mental stuff.
05:52They are projections of your own ego. They are not the truth.
05:59Therefore, Vedanta does not talk of Ishwar or Bhagwan. It talks of Atma and Brahm.
06:07Devi, Devata, Ishwar, Bhagwan, God, Allah
06:15or demigods. Vedanta scoffs at them.
06:25Vedanta says truth, truth. What is the truth?
06:31Truth beyond the human mind. Truth that takes the human mind to its utmost potential.
06:43Truth beyond stories, truth beyond beliefs.
06:49Vedanta says if you are a human being, you are a human being.
06:55Truth beyond stories, truth beyond beliefs.
06:59Vedanta says if there is anything in your religion that you have to blindly believe in,
07:04then we don't agree with it. Because I am not here to believe, I am here to know.
07:11If your religious book opens with the injunction that you have to necessarily
07:17believe in such and such thing, then we reject that book.
07:25Are you getting it? So it is great if you are an atheist. If you are an atheist,
07:34your journey into the truth will be smoother because you will be without the God baggage.
07:42It's better to travel light, is it not?
07:46So it's not a problem from where I see that the youth is turning atheistic.
07:59To me, blind theism and belief is a bigger problem.
08:04If you come empty of your load of beliefs to me, I find it easier to take you down
08:20that great road, that great road to nowhere, to the end of the world.
08:34That great road to no oneness.
08:40It is the believers
08:44that prove tricky to deal with because their beliefs become so enmeshed with their identity.
08:53When their beliefs are questioned, they feel their very existence is being attacked.
09:03Vedanta is not for believers.
09:07Aastha, mannita, vishwas, traditions,
09:16faith.
09:23Not needed, not useful.
09:34Yes, thank you, sir.
09:42A very good evening, one and all. I deem it a great honor to receive an opportunity to
09:46deliver a word of thanks for this session and now let me directly go into the duty vested on me.
09:52First up, I would like to thank our honorable guest and speaker, Ajarya Prashanth, for taking
09:57time out of his busy schedule to be present at this session and provide clarity to our doubts
10:01and questions. I am sure that everyone present at this session would have gained valuable
10:06information and life lessons from his words. The perspectives he has shared with us were
10:12refreshing and eye-opening and at the same time, it provokes our thoughts to think and act
10:16differently. I, on behalf of the organizing committee and everyone present at this session,
10:21would convey my hearty thanks to you, sir. Also, we hope to hear more from you again in the future
10:29for more discussions like this. Thank you, sir.
10:36Next up, I would like to extend my gratitude to the Prashanth Advait Foundation and its
10:41members for their support in organizing and conducting the meeting in a very successful
10:45manner. The foundation aims at the creation of a new humanity through intelligent spirituality
10:52and has been very instrumental in initiating discussions like this to spread their ideas
10:57and help in the transformation of human consciousness and self-development. Once
11:01again, I thank the foundation and wish them good luck in the future and the universe as well.
11:05Next, let me thank the PSL of SOMES and NITC for their commendable efforts
11:10for organizing the session in a very successful manner. Thank you, guys.
11:14Last but not least, a huge thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has
11:18presented the meeting and it was your presence and interactions that added purpose and meaning
11:23to our intentions behind holding a session like this.
11:26So, once again, I would like to thank everyone and have a nice day. Thank you.
