00:00I'm playing this Garba instructor, not very ambitious in life and his only intention is
00:21to have a Garba academy, never fall in love, falls in love with a girl and it's a story
00:26about the love story that happens in the 9 days of Navratri and how his life changes
00:31in 9 days.
00:32I would say yes I am.
00:33I do believe in romantic stories, I do believe in love stories, real and unreal.
00:39I think in love it's the most paramount emotion and it comes to anything like you might love
00:43your parents, love your kids or love your partner but whatever it is, love is the most
00:47paramount emotion.
00:48For me, I am blessed with a beautiful wife who takes care of me, she's been there with
00:53me through my thick and thin.
00:55She's my manager, best friend, mentor, she's somebody who will take care of my business
01:00now, she's handling my work, so she has a lot of feathers on her cap.
01:06I completely believe that everybody has a right to give an opinion and everybody's opinion
01:11should be respected.
01:12If I can't laugh at myself, then there's no humour left and that's simple, sometimes the
01:22critics need to have some humour in them as well.
01:24There was some review that said Varina can get 1 or 2 more Bollywood films but this should
01:28be Sharma's last outing at the box office.
01:30Some were giving me 3 stars, some were giving me half a star and I was like okay, what is
01:35the response like?
01:36So, I was a little low, I won't disagree.
01:38I woke up the next morning and I was like okay because in my mind, I've just made a
01:42sweet love story where you just have to put a smile on your faces.
01:45I don't want you to come into the theatres with that preconceived notion that okay fine,
01:49love story should be this.
01:51You don't go into a theatre saying that I want this out of the film.
01:54You go into the theatre to like it or dislike it.
01:56Someone called me and said what's happening?
01:57I said no, this is the critics.
01:59He said I don't make films for the critics.
02:01Last film, please remember the last film that I have made for the critics, I've never got
02:04any critical review but I have people standing by me and that's what matters.
02:08And I said exactly, I have people standing by me, I was happy.
02:12Then I started taking humour in all the critics, I started reading all the reviews in a humorous
02:16tone.
02:17I started enjoying each and every take, each and every breakdown they gave and after Beyond
02:20A Point, I said you know what, I don't want to read it anymore.
02:22Okay, you're done with it.
02:23Yeah, I'm done with it.
02:24Now you have to move on.
02:25Yeah, Saturday morning I woke up and I said listen, I'm done with this film, next, bring
02:29it on.
02:30If you would have taken the fault of the film without saying that this is a Salman Khan
02:33brother-in-law film, would they be so harsh?
02:36If I think there are a lot of critics that really didn't talk about the film but they
02:39were both busy equating me and him together on the same page.
02:42I understand that he's a producer, he's a person who's bankrolled it but saying Salman
02:46Khan fails to present his brother-in-law in the right light is not true.
02:49He's not the director, he's not the script writer, he's not somebody who's gone on set
02:53and every day and sat down, he gave us a check.
02:56If somebody has failed, it's us, not him.
03:00But equating that, it's going, are you reviewing the film or are you reviewing our personal
03:05relationship?
03:06See I think the media also sometimes, it comes with a certain mindset.
03:10As you said that you know being his family member, certain people which I believe the
03:13people love.
03:14There's a certain kind of love, if you see and I'll talk about the positives and then
03:18I'll come back to the negatives.
03:20You see the number of debutantes that have come this year, count the number of films
03:24that have released this year.
03:25Now innumerable number of debutantes have come this year, now films that have gone ahead
03:28and did it.
03:30Most of the films don't open in crores, they open in lakhs.
03:35Now having him by my side, having his support has given me an opening in crores.
03:39I have managed to open a film with a big film like Andhadhun, with a big film like Venom
03:45and Suvidhaga who is already doing good.
03:47To open in a state where there are four films colliding for screen space and audiences have
03:51four options to go to, it is his love, his fans that have come in to support the film
03:56and they said you know what, we are going to stand by the film and that's something
03:59that has happened.
04:00I remember when I went inside and to the theatres and I had one lady who came out and she just
04:06told me, she looked at me and she's like I just want to tell you one thing.
04:08She said, I don't know what people are saying but my brother just passed away two days back
04:13and my husband got me only here to put a smile on my face and you successfully did
04:16that for me.
04:17That's my filmfare, that's my IFA, that's my award, that if I have managed to successfully
04:22bring a smile at your face, you know you came inside with whatever your mindset was and
04:27I made you dance, that is my victory and this is just my beginning.
04:32This is just the beginning.
04:33So in my mind I was like this is my award, I don't need anything more.
