00:00As the news unfold in Syria, things are also taking place here in Athens, in the Greek capital, in front of the Syrian embassy.
00:09As you can see right behind me, there is a different Syrian flag hanging right now from the ceiling.
00:15This is the Syrian flag before Assad took into power, with the green, the white and the black, the three red stars in the middle.
00:22And how this happened? Early morning on Sunday, people stormed the embassy.
00:27They hung that flag. A number of people started gathering here to celebrate as what they say is now a liberated Syria.
00:35That's why they come here. They said that Syria is finally free.
00:38That's what the people, what we have been speaking to earlier, they said that they finally can be able to go back and see their loved ones, that the country now is free.
00:47That was their main message to all the people who have gathered here.
00:52There is still heavy police presence, though there are not a lot of people here. People start to disperse.
00:57But there will be later on Sunday a demonstration in front of the Greek parliament in Syntagma Square,
01:04where thousands of Syrians are expected to attend to celebrate what they say is now a liberated Syria.
01:12I'm Evangelos Tsipras reporting from in front of the Syrian embassy in Athens for CGTN.
