00:10Rachel Yoder's book night bitch was sent to me during the pandemic and I think I had been stuck in my house for like a

00:16Year, and I had a six-month-old baby

00:19The book just spoke to me the idea for night bitch came when I was a mom who had dropped out of the workforce

00:26I just kind of found myself in this sort of malaise like not knowing who I was

00:32I don't think I'm an artist anymore

00:34It was so honest because she had just an amazing point of view an amazing voice for this character

00:41She put her in a world. That was very identifiable for me. Oh

00:48Relatable and real and to read a book where you feel seen in it. It's such a positive experience. Okay, okay

00:55Stop the adaptation that Mari had written was really funny, but more so really accurate

01:06How grounded and how real it was was something that really really stuck out to me

01:10She had kept the essence kept so true to the character, but broadened the world opened it up a little bit

01:15We got to know other characters in a different way

01:17It's so seldom you get to read something that is so powerfully original and also it has a great sense of humor

01:25What's so beautiful about Rachel's book is the voice of the main character who she just calls the mother

01:35She's so irreverent. She's so thoughtful

01:37She's like thinking about the world in this really unique perspective

01:41and that was what I wanted to preserve more than anything in the adaptation and

01:47We're lucky to have a writer and director in the same person and

01:50To get to have these really intimate conversations about the film about our perspective about life and really

01:57See that come to fruition inside of the film is really thrilling and just gives you a different attachment to the material

02:04Do you ever feel like the big secret is that we are gods what Mari has done with it?

02:09I think is absolutely brilliant and it's so gratifying

02:13To see an artist I admire and be inspired by what I've done and then make her own art out of that

02:20I just wanted to thank you for that book recommendation. I have to say it was exactly what I was looking for. Just join my job
