00:06top stories at this hour. DNA testing will be used to identify the 48
00:12charred victims of a plane crash in the mountainous north of Pakistan as the country mourned one
00:17of the worst aviation disasters in its history. The Pakistan International Airlines flight
00:23crashed into a hillside after one of its two turboprop engines failed while travelling
00:29from the city of Chitral to the capital. It burst into flames, killing everyone on board.
00:35Six of the victims have been identified through fingerprints.
00:39Israel's parliament voted to give official recognition to unauthorized colony outposts
00:44across the West Bank in legislation that provoked Palestinian outrage and was condemned as a
00:51land grab by the United Nations. The bill, introduced by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's
00:57Likud party, passed 57-51 in Israel's Knesset and must be approved in two more votes to
01:05become law.
01:06Humanitarian organisations descended on Indonesia's Aceh province as the government in Jakarta
01:12promised tonnes of emergency aid. Officials raced to assess the full extent of damage
01:18from an earthquake that killed more than 100 people. Search efforts were concentrated on
01:24the town of Muredu in PD Jaya district near the epicentre of the quake.
01:30Hollywood heavyweight Samuel L Jackson led an array of big names on the red carpet on
01:35the opening night of the 13th Dubai International Film Festival at Medina Jumeirah. Jackson
01:42was honoured with a Diff Lifetime Achievement Award alongside Bollywood actress Rekha and
01:48French-Lebanese score composer Gabriel Yared.
