00:00And, you know, a lot of folks went into the season thinking that Anthony Richardson, based
00:10on the first two games that he played last year, then he got hurt, remember, but he wasn't
00:13taken high last year.
00:14He was just going to build off that.
00:16And it went back the other way.
00:18Now, he has looked better lately, and maybe this is going to be an indication for next
00:23season.
00:24But if you took him in the first five rounds or six of any fantasy draft, you didn't get
00:28anything.
00:29He had nine interceptions and 11 touchdowns, and if you lose points for picks, he really
00:33gave you almost a zero on the season.
00:35He was benched for Joe Flacco at one point.
00:37Again, George, he has come back.
00:39He has looked better.
00:40They beat New England last week, but very much a mixed bag.
00:45And simply put, this isn't a player next year that's going to go higher, I think, than he
00:49went this past year.
00:50He's going to be one of those players that people need to see more of.
00:54He was massively hyped coming at the draft.
00:58Number one quarterback overall, all right, it was just nuts.
01:02You know, and I mentioned several times while doing this show that if not for the fact that
01:08he looked good last year, off his preseason, he wouldn't be starting, period.
01:12He was terrible in the preseason.
01:13He couldn't complete a handoff.
01:14All right, that carried over to the regular season.
01:16He is playing better now for whatever reasons are good for him, but he might have already
01:20killed your team.
01:21All right.
01:22Now, in a one quarterback league, you should have been okay.
01:23You moved on from it.
01:24You got somebody else, a Matthew Stafford type.
01:27You probably survived here.
01:28But in a two quarterback league, that might have sunk your team, you know, especially
01:32your six points for a touchdown pass.
01:33That's awfully hard to make up.
01:34You probably had a third quarterback on your roster, but it was probably someone terrible.
01:39You know, nobody all that great here.
01:41So yeah, he could have really sunk your team.
01:42I thought Richland was definitely a huge disappointment in the early going.
01:47He's playing better now.
01:49Might be too late for you.
01:50Same with CJ Stroud, another player coming off a fantastic year, not just two games,
01:55but a fantastic year.
01:56Last year, the projections for Stroud was 4,500 yards and 40 touchdowns.
02:03Instead, I don't know that he's going to get to 4,000 yards, and I don't know that he's
02:07even going to get to 20 touchdowns on the season, George.
02:09And what's funny, he has nine interceptions, too.
02:11A lot of folks say, well, it was the injury to Stephon Diggs.
02:13Are you kidding me?
02:14This guy did not have Stephon Diggs last year.
02:16I have no idea where that analysis is coming from.
02:19I just think what happened, George, is like sports, baseball, football, basketball, and
02:24everything else.
02:26Is that when a team comes out of nowhere to have a really good year as a rookie, second-year
02:32player, et cetera, the film is out, and analytics and film study are better now than they ever
02:39have been.
02:40They're incredible.
02:41I think, George, the defenses just went back, they looked at his tendencies, he's still
02:46been okay, but they clearly figured out how to play against Houston's offense.
02:51Maybe we'll say the same thing about Washington next year with Jaden Daniels, or even Caleb
02:56Williams.
02:57But it's very clear to me that Houston's step back is because they took such a big step
03:01forward unexpectedly last year.
03:03Yeah, I love where you're going with that, because I think that's part of it as well.
03:07I think, once again, second-year player.
03:08We say it in baseball all the time, right?
03:10It's a game of adjustments here over the first couple of months, over the next couple of
03:13months.
03:14I think the same thing.
03:15Teams looked at Stroud, looked at him hard during the offseason, and figured out how
03:18to beat him.
03:19He hasn't made those adjustments, or Houston hasn't made those adjustments yet.
03:21We'll see how it comes.
03:22Maybe the bye week helps him here, but he's definitely been a disappointment.
03:26Some people had him as the number five quarterback, not quite as high as Rickerson, but he was
03:30behind the Mahomes of the world, and Allen, Hurst, Lamar Jackson, then they had him right
03:34there with Burrow.
03:35Boy, if you took Stroud over Burrow, you're probably not feeling too good.
03:40I think everyone took Stroud over Burrow going into the year.
03:43Patrick Mahomes was taking over both those guys.
03:45Finally, his numbers are starting to look a little bit better.
03:49This was getting dicey, George, with him having, I think, 10 touchdowns and 9 interceptions.
03:53He's finally up to 20 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
03:56It's going to be a bust of a season compared to where he normally gets drafted, but now
04:01he's starting to become playable again, George.
04:03I'm sure you've noticed this.
04:04He's starting to have better games.
04:06Maybe down the stretch, we'll see more of what we thought we were going to see this
04:09year.
04:10Yeah, and you're right.
04:11If you were able to survive, maybe he's going to bring you a championship, and he's going
04:13to play better now.
04:14I certainly could see that.
04:16Chargers, Cleveland, Houston, and then Pittsburgh in your championship week.
04:19The Pittsburgh run you don't like.
04:21Chargers isn't great, but it's not poor either.
04:23Cleveland and Houston, though, in the semis and the finals there, you could go do some
04:27damage there.
04:28I think Mahomes will end up being top 10, not top 4, not top 5, but he'll end up being
04:33top 10, maybe even top 8, so he'll save this season.
04:35We won't be complaining too much, assuming you survive the first six weeks, eight weeks
04:40of the season, where he wasn't leading to any victories.
04:46We'll see what happens.
