00:00Scott, you just don't get it, do you?
00:05You don't.
00:06Welcome to WatchMojo,
00:08and today we're counting down our picks
00:10for the most obvious times that film baddies
00:12could have changed their plans to win.
00:15Spoilers ahead for the following movies.
00:17They'll never know it,
00:20because you won't be alive to tell them.
00:24Number 30.
00:25Not taking advantage of Stark's public identity.
00:28Iron Man 2.
00:30In Iron Man 2,
00:31Ivan Vanko seeks revenge against Tony Stark
00:34on behalf of his father.
00:36Speaking of thieves, where did you get this design?
00:39My father, Anton Vanko.
00:43I've never heard of him.
00:46My father is the reason you're alive.
00:49The reason I'm alive is because you had a shot,
00:51you took it, you missed.
00:52Vanko's genius talents could be used to take Stark down,
00:56but his plans don't necessarily add up.
00:59With his secret identity public knowledge,
01:01Vanko could have done research
01:03to figure out his enemy's weaknesses
01:05and built a better weapon against him.
01:08Instead, the racing scene with electric whips
01:10seemed like a theatrical and inefficient way
01:13to combat the target.
01:16Not to mention,
01:17it also relied on lots of luck
01:19to even pull off in the first place.
01:21It's yet another case of a villain
01:23not utilizing public information
01:25and intellectual prowess to gain the upper hand.
01:28Number 29.
01:29Frollo's placement and wardrobe choices.
01:32The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
01:34It's easy to call Judge Claude Frollo
01:36one of the more sinister villains in the film,
01:38but it's not as simple as that.
01:40Frollo is a man of many talents,
01:42but it's easy to call Judge Claude Frollo
01:44one of the more sinister villains in Disney history.
01:46As the arch-nemesis in the Hunchback of Notre Dame,
01:49the minister confronts Quasimodo
01:51at the top of the titular cathedral.
01:53Now, I'm going to do what I should have done
01:5620 years ago!
01:58Frollo comes armed with a sword,
02:00but his cape and footwork get the best of him.
02:03He manages to swing onto a nearby gargoyle,
02:06but takes too much time savoring his supposed triumph,
02:09leading to the gargoyle breaking.
02:11And he shall smite the wicked
02:14and plunge them into the fiery pit!
02:17This poor choice costs him his life,
02:20proving once again that being overconfident
02:22can be a deadly mistake.
02:24Number 28.
02:25Missing the Missile Opportunity.
02:27X-Men Apocalypse.
02:29After being reawakened into modern times,
02:32N. Sabanur launches a diabolical plot against the world.
02:36Part of the plot involves sending
02:38the world's entire nuclear arsenal into space,
02:40where it can harm no one.
02:42No more swords!
02:45No more weapons!
02:48No more systems!
02:52No more...
02:55No more superpowers.
02:58But if he was able to arrange that,
03:00why didn't he simply use those missiles
03:02to get what he wanted?
03:03He also gains control of Charles Xavier
03:06and, in the grand tradition of villain monologuing,
03:09uses him to send a message to the world.
03:11Unfortunately, Xavier also uses it
03:14to send a message to other mutants
03:16to come fight the villain.
03:17Those with the greatest power...
03:23protect those without.
03:28That's my message to the world.
03:30This, of course, triggers a climactic battle
03:32to stop the antagonist.
03:34He doesn't seem to know very much about being subtle
03:36or following through on a halfway decent scheme.
03:39Number 27.
03:41Kicking away every lightsaber.
03:43Star Wars Episode I, The Phantom Menace.
03:46In maybe the finest scene of the film,
03:48Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn
03:50face off against Darth Maul.
03:59The Jedi Master dies while the Apprentice is disarmed.
04:02Maul kicks Kenobi's lightsaber into a shaft,
04:05but makes the mistake of ignoring Jinn's weapon.
04:08The hero then uses his Force abilities
04:10to wield his mentor's saber against the Sith warrior.
04:13Despite the bad guy's skills,
04:15he doesn't take into account that he might be outsmarted.
04:24Rather than being cocky,
04:26he should have made sure there were no weapons
04:28for his enemy to possibly utilize.
04:30Number 26.
04:32Controlling the glider.
04:33Spider-Man.
04:34Near the end of Sam Raimi's first Spider-Man,
04:37Green Goblin confronts the superhero
04:39and reveals his true identity as Norman Osborn.
04:42Peter! Stop! Stop!
04:45It's me.
04:55Mr. Osborn.
04:56It's part of Osborn's plan to manipulate and distract Spider-Man
05:00so that he can skewer the hero with his goblin glider.
05:03Of course, Spider-Man dodges the weapon with his nimble reflexes,
05:06leading to the antagonist impaling himself.
05:09You'd think that an evil genius
05:11would have better control of his own equipment.
05:13Peter.
05:17Don't tell Harry.
05:19Or at the very least,
05:20could have ducked or moved out of the way
05:22once he launched the glider after his foe.
05:24This looks like somebody failing Super-Villain 101,
05:27showing just how incompetent the goblin is
05:29compared to his rival.
05:31Number 25.
05:32Otto not falling for the Captain's trick.
05:35WALL-E.
05:36Following the discovery of a living plant,
05:38WALL-E, Eve, and Captain McRae
05:40want to get the Axiom back to Earth.
05:42Their only problem is the AI pilot, Otto,
05:45is programmed to stop them.
05:47But life is sustainable now.
05:49Look at this plant.
05:50Green and growing.
05:52It's living proof he was wrong.
05:54Relevant, Captain.
05:56This leads the heroes to concoct a scheme
05:58to distract the robotic skipper.
06:00While it might be an all-powerful computer,
06:02the villain seems to be no match for the crafty McRae.
06:05But how believable is it that this AI
06:07wouldn't be able to tell the difference
06:09between the image of a plant and the real thing?
06:11Otto, you are relieved of duty.
06:15His intelligence should have smelled the trick
06:18and thus avoided ending up in a fight.
06:20A simple defensive maneuver or even a second glance
06:23definitely would have changed the outcome of this film.
06:26Number 24.
06:27Just leave.
06:28HEAT.
06:29Neil Macaulay is a professional thief
06:31that lives by a code.
06:33But things get complicated
06:34when he falls for a woman named Edie.
06:36All I know is,
06:37there's no point in you going anywhere anymore
06:41if it's gonna be alone.
06:44Without you.
06:45He's all set to leave town with her
06:47until he spots a chance to get revenge,
06:49dooming him in the process.
06:51Macaulay stops off at a hotel
06:53to kill former associate Wayne Grow.
06:55This puts him in the sights of Lieutenant Vincent Hanna
06:58with the robber having to dump his travel partner
07:01in the process.
07:02His hubris ends up sending him off course
07:04and preempting a final duel.
07:06His ticket to paradise is right in front of him,
07:09but the villain can't keep from getting back at Wayne Grow.
07:12With a little more control,
07:13he could have had a new start on a new life.
07:16I told you I'm never going back.
07:23Number 23.
07:25Guarding Mount Doom.
07:26The Lord of the Rings,
07:27The Return of the King.
07:29After several hours of adventures,
07:31the whole trilogy builds up to the thrilling climax
07:34on Mount Doom.
07:35Frodo, Sam, and Gollum arrive there
07:37to decide the fate of the ring.
07:39What are you waiting for?
07:44Just let it go!
07:45All that being said,
07:46you'd think that a powerful villain like Sauron
07:49could have done a better job guarding the hot zone.
07:51There could have been a few orcs around
07:53to prevent the characters from destroying
07:55the most important object in the story.
07:57Somebody obviously forgot to tell the antagonist
08:00that the best defense is a good defense.
08:16While it would take away a dramatic ending,
08:18a revised plan from the Lord of the Rings nemesis
08:20could have secured a win for the opposing team.
08:23Number 22.
08:24Better Aim.
08:25Leon the Professional.
08:27With so many men coming after the protagonist,
08:29the audience wonders how he'll escape.
08:31Bring me everyone.
08:33What do you mean everyone?
08:34Everyone!
08:36The authorities conduct a raid on Leon's apartment building,
08:39with the hero holding his own
08:41and even making a miraculous exit.
08:43The amazing turn of events is then cut short
08:46by a bullet from his enemy, Stansfield.
08:48With the main character in his sights,
08:50the villain could have easily taken down his target
08:52by aiming for the head.
08:53The antagonist makes the mistake
08:55of leaving the assassin alive long enough for a surprise.
09:04In the end, both men end up dead
09:06because the heavy got a little too cocky.
09:08Number 21. Complete the Job.
09:11Black Panther.
09:12In this acclaimed superhero film,
09:14Erik Killmonger Stevens has a claim to the Wakanda throne.
09:18I'm exercising my blood right.
09:20The challenge for the mantles of King and Black Panther.
09:24This prompts a ritual battle between the villain and T'Challa.
09:27Killmonger gains the upper hand,
09:29deciding to toss his opponent off a waterfall
09:32instead of properly finishing him.
09:34Considering the odds of a hero surviving any murder attempt,
09:37you should never be too sure of anything.
09:39The lead defies death
09:41and returns later to take back his position.
09:43Needless to say,
09:45the antagonist should have ended the hero
09:47when he had the chance.
09:48There's a lesson to be learned here
09:50that many main characters can safely fall from any height.
09:53While he had the win in his sights,
09:55the evil guy decided to get too fancy with his final move.
09:58Maybe we can still heal you.
10:02Why?
10:05So you can just lock me up?
10:07Number 20. Finish Him.
10:09The Dark Knight Rises.
10:11Breaking Batman's back with his bare hands,
10:14Bane achieves the unthinkable.
10:19Although all the pieces are in place
10:21for the League of Shadows to take over Gotham,
10:23Bane refuses to simply finish the job.
10:26Instead, Bruce Wayne is sent to an unguarded underground prison.
10:30Even after trapping the authorities
10:32and blocking off all city exits,
10:34Bane doesn't immediately use the nuclear bomb at his disposal.
10:38Bane explains that despair is rooted in hope.
10:41As I terrorize Gotham,
10:43I will feed its people hope to poison their souls.
10:47By giving Gotham hope, however,
10:49Bane allows Bruce enough time to stage a comeback.
10:52Granted, Bane probably wasn't expecting Bruce
10:54to cure his back with a rope,
10:56and we're not entirely sure how Bruce got back to Gotham.
10:59Still, Bane should have either killed Bruce
11:01or organized better security for that prison.
11:0419. Using Teleportation War
11:14The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
11:17David Jones has many supernatural powers,
11:20but teleportation is one ability
11:22that he definitely could have made better use of.
11:24At one point in Dead Man's Chest,
11:26Jones and his crew teleport onto the Black Pearl
11:29to collect a debt from Captain Jack Sparrow.
11:32Jack manages to buy himself three extra Ds,
11:35but why doesn't Jones use this ability all the time?
11:38In At World's End, Jones teleports onto the Black Pearl's brig
11:42to confront Calypso.
11:44Instead of reconnecting with an old flame,
11:47Jones should have used this power to ambush our crew,
11:50but instead, he teleports onto the Black Pearl's brig
11:53to confront Calypso.
11:55Instead of reconnecting with an old flame,
11:57Jones should have used this power
11:59to ambush our heroes.
12:01This power would have been especially beneficial
12:03during his final duel against Jack.
12:05Jones could have used teleportation
12:07to sneak up on Jack and reclaim his heart,
12:10but he once again ignores his greatest advantage.
12:1718. Send Another Henchman
12:22To secure her title as the fairest in the land,
12:25the Queen orders her huntsmen to put Snow White six feet under.
12:28When the huntsman can't bring himself
12:30to harm the princess, however,
12:32the Queen decides to do the deed herself.
12:34I'll go myself to the Dwarf's Cottage
12:37in a disguise so complete no one will ever suspect.
12:43But wait, wouldn't it have been easier
12:45if she just sent another henchman?
12:47Was the huntsman her only henchman?
12:49Come to think of it, the only other minion
12:51we see the Queen interact with is her magic mirror.
12:54She doesn't seem to have many servants either,
12:56as Snow White was handling the cleaning.
12:58This has got to be the most understaffed monarchy in history.
13:02It's almost as if Snow White is a fairytale
13:04that wasn't meant to be overanalyzed on the internet.
13:07Oh, wait.
13:1517. Suck Out Thackeray's Life
13:18Hocus Pocus
13:20Hocus Pocus opens with three elderly witches
13:23sucking the life out of a little girl
13:25to make themselves younger.
13:27That's pretty metal for a Disney movie.
13:34Winnie Sanderson points out that the sisters
13:36could still afford to shed off a few years.
13:39When they discover Thackeray binks,
13:41the Sandersons consider absorbing his youth as well,
13:44which would have been the smartest course of action.
13:46Let's brew another batch, you hag!
13:50Instead, they turn him into an immortal black cat,
13:53making him live with the failure of not being able to save his sister.
13:56It's a cruel punishment,
13:58but this leaves the door open for Thackeray
14:00to one day lift his curse.
14:02If they sucked out Thackeray's life,
14:04the witches would have had a much easier time
14:06dealing with our heroes 300 years later.
14:1216. Leave the Brody Family Alone
14:15Jaws the Revenge
14:17In case you didn't know,
14:18the shark from Jaws was nicknamed Bruce.
14:20Bruce apparently had a mate named Brucette
14:22who wreaked havoc in Jaws 2.
14:25In Jaws 3D, SeaWorld is terrorized by Brucetta,
14:28Bruce's granddaughter,
14:30and baby shark, Bruce's great-grandson.
14:32The shark in Jaws the Revenge is Bruce's son, Vengeance.
14:36As his nickname suggests,
14:38Vengeance seeks to devour the Brodies
14:40for continually blowing up his family.
14:43We didn't realize that sharks had the mental capacity
14:45to plot revenge.
14:47We just assumed that they were mindless eating machines.
14:50That said, Vengeance should have stayed at Amity Island.
14:53There are plenty of humans in the sea after all.
14:56Instead, he swims to the Bahamas
14:58to finish off the Brodies,
15:00doomed to share the fate of his shark relatives.
15:0717. The Sharks Return
15:11Smile, you son of a bitch!
15:2015. Keep the Cats – The Aristocats
15:24With no living relatives,
15:26Madame Adelaide decides to leave her vast fortune
15:28to her cats.
15:30After Duchess and her kittens pass,
15:32Adelaide's butler Edgar will inherit everything.
15:35Cats inherit first,
15:37and I come after the cats.
15:40Which is not fair!
15:42To make himself the sole beneficiary,
15:44Edgar tries to get rid of the pesky felines.
15:47Here's the thing though.
15:48Cats can't communicate with humans or spend money.
15:51Even if the cats inherited Adelaide's estate,
15:54they would still need Edgar to handle their finances.
15:57Edgar could have just bought a lifetime supply of cat food
16:00and then spent the rest on himself.
16:02Given the size of Adelaide's mansion,
16:04it's not like he'd have to share a room with the cats or anything.
16:07Adelaide was gift-wrapping Edgar
16:09the comfiest cat-sitting job in the world,
16:11but his greediness leaves him penniless.
16:14If Edgar had only known about the will,
16:17I'm sure he never would have left.
16:1914. Stop Toying with the Losers – The It Franchise
16:24When Pennywise encounters little Georgie,
16:27he doesn't spend weeks terrorizing him.
16:29He simply lures him towards a storm drain
16:31and takes a big bite.
16:34This seems to be It's strategy
16:36for most of the kids in Derry,
16:38and even some adults.
16:40When it comes to our main characters, however,
16:42It always lets the Losers Club escape
16:44after scaring the Daylights out of them.
16:46We know that fear is the secret ingredient
16:50that makes children taste so scrumptious,
16:53but if It just ate the Losers already,
16:55there would have been nobody left in Derry
16:57to stop It from preying on frightened children.
16:59We guess that the Losers have a guardian angel
17:01looking out for them.
17:03Or maybe a guardian turtle.
17:06Fear.
17:1613. Build Another Mutant Conversion Machine –
17:20X-Men The Last Stand
17:22In the third X-Men movie,
17:24a cure is developed that can suppress the X gene,
17:27taking away mutant abilities.
17:29Magneto sees this as a threat to wipe out all mutants
17:32and thus declares a war on humanity.
17:34There was another way that Magneto
17:36could have resolved this, though.
17:38Remember that mutant conversion machine
17:40from the first movie?
17:41Why not just build another
17:43to reverse the effects of the cure?
17:57Sure, the machine wasn't entirely stable,
17:59and the Brotherhood may need to kidnap Rogue again.
18:02Working out the machine's kinks
18:04still sounds better than risking countless mutant lives
18:07in an all-out battle, however.
18:09Yet revisiting his old plan never occurs to Magneto.
18:12Ah well, it's not like there are any other continuity errors
18:15in the X-Men franchise.
18:3012. Guard the Coffin – Dracula
18:33Few horror movie monsters are more revered than Dracula,
18:36and Bela Lugosi arguably delivered
18:39the character's definitive portrayal.
18:41Being so iconic, you'd expect Dracula
18:43to go out on a high note.
18:45In the end, though, Van Helsing merely
18:47stakes Dracula offscreen
18:49while he's slumbering in his coffin.
18:53For a film that's otherwise a classic,
18:55Dracula's demise is pretty anticlimactic.
18:58What's more, it could have easily been prevented.
19:00Shortly before retreating to his coffin,
19:03Dracula kills Renfield,
19:05assuming that he led Helsing and Harker to him.
19:12Wouldn't it have made more sense if Dracula
19:14kept Renfield alive and made him guard his coffin?
19:17Come to think of it, why didn't Dracula
19:19hypnotize several people to protect him
19:21whenever the sun rises?
19:23Carfax Abbey could use better security.
19:2911. Keeping Aladdin Alive – Aladdin
19:34After Aladdin retrieves the coveted lamp,
19:36Jafar prepares to give the street rat
19:38his eternal reward.
19:40This makes sense as Jafar wants to tie up
19:42all loose ends, and the Cave of Wonders
19:44is an ideal place to dispose of a body.
19:54Unfortunately, Jafar didn't count on Aladdin
19:56having a monkey up his sleeve
19:58or a magic carpet to catch him.
20:00The irony is that if Jafar didn't double-cross Aladdin,
20:03he might have won.
20:05Had Jafar helped him out of the cave instead,
20:07Abu wouldn't have stolen the lamp,
20:09and Aladdin wouldn't have unleashed the genie.
20:18Most importantly, Aladdin wouldn't have learned
20:20the price of being an all-powerful genie,
20:22which he uses to trick Jafar in the climax.
20:2610. More Agents, Less Assimilation – The Matrix Revolutions
20:38Neo may be the one, but Agent Smith levels
20:41the playing field in the third Matrix
20:43by absorbing the Oracle's powers.
20:51Having gained precognition,
20:53Smith decides that he can handle Neo on his own.
20:56Making his clones stand there and watch
20:58seems like such a waste, though.
21:00Neo can barely hold his own against the main Smith,
21:03so imagine how much quicker the fight would have been
21:05if every clone joined in.
21:16Now, if the battle still led to Smith
21:18assimilating Neo, the end result
21:20would have been the same regardless.
21:22Neo would have become linked to the Source,
21:24allowing him to delete the Agents.
21:26If Smith and all of his clones ganged up on Neo, however,
21:29they could have destroyed him inside the Matrix
21:31rather than assimilate him.
21:449. Go After Baby Sarah – The Terminator
21:48In an apocalyptic future overrun with machines,
21:51humanity's only hope is Resistance leader John Connor.
21:54To prevent John from being born,
21:56Skynet sends a T-800 back to 1984
21:59to take out his mother Sarah.
22:06Although Sarah doesn't have any combat experience
22:08at this point, she can still run and hide.
22:11She can also fall in love with John's father,
22:13who turns out to be Kyle Reese,
22:15a Resistance soldier sent back in time to protect her.
22:22Skynet should have sent the T-800 back to the 1960s
22:26to pursue Sarah as an infant.
22:28Yeah, going after a defenseless baby is unspeakable,
22:31but Skynet is a soulless entity.
22:33In the Terminator Genisys timeline,
22:35a T-1000 does pursue a 9-year-old Sarah,
22:38but a baby would have been an easier target nonetheless.
22:418. Snap All the Heroes – Avengers Infinity War
22:50In one of cinema's bleakest cliffhangers,
22:53Avengers Infinity War concludes with Thanos
22:55snapping half of all life in the universe from existence.
23:01Many heroes turn to dust in the process,
23:03although about half remain alive to fight another day.
23:06If Thanos wanted to guarantee his triumph,
23:08he should have made sure all of the Avengers perished.
23:11We guess the universe wouldn't be balanced without any heroes,
23:14but then nobody could have reversed the snap.
23:22Thanos did promise to spare Tony Stark
23:25in exchange for the Time Stone,
23:27but Iron Man would have died in space anyway
23:29if Captain Marvel got snapped.
23:31At the very least, Thanos should have snapped the rat
23:34that brought Ant-Man out of the Quantum Realm.
23:36Now there's an unsung hero.
23:507. Take Simba Out Yourself, Scar – The Lion King
23:55After hurling Mufasa to his death,
23:57Scar convinces Simba that he's responsible.
24:00Scar tells Simba to run away,
24:02but then he immediately sends his minions after the lion cub.
24:06Run away and never return.
24:09So why didn't Scar finish off Simba himself
24:12and cut out the middle man?
24:14Or the middle hyena, in this case?
24:16We'd say that Scar didn't want to get his own paws dirty,
24:19but he literally threw his brother off a cliff
24:21a few minutes earlier.
24:22Long live the king.
24:32It's not like he's above doing the same thing to his nephew.
24:35Scar could have sunk his claws into Simba
24:37and then let the hyenas clean up the mess.
24:40Be that as it may,
24:41getting to hear Jeremy Irons say kill him
24:43totally makes up for this plot hole.
24:54For an evil genius,
24:55Lex Luthor doesn't surround himself
24:57with the most reliable allies.
24:59In the original Superman,
25:00Lex should have kept a close eye on Eve Teschmacher.
25:04When she pointed out that her mother lived in the city
25:06he was about to destroy.
25:10It's Jesse Eisenberg's Luthor
25:12who really defies all logic, however.
25:15In an overly complicated plot,
25:17Lex manipulates Batman and Superman
25:19into fighting each other.
25:21Lex trusts that Batman's hatred for Superman will prevail,
25:25but wouldn't it have been less convoluted
25:27if he hired Deathstroke or Deadshot to take out Supes?
25:31No, I have too much to live for.
25:33He could have given them kryptonite bullets
25:35and built a mech suit like Batman's.
25:37Maybe Lex didn't want any illegal activity
25:39traced back to him,
25:41but creating Doomsday was kind of a giveaway.
25:55Harry and Marv would have been better off
25:57skipping the Macalester residence,
25:59as all of the other houses in the neighborhood
26:01still have plenty of valuables to steal.
26:03We mean, what did the Macalesters even own
26:05that made their house so special?
26:18Some mannequins and a Michael Jordan cutout?
26:20If robbing this one house was that important,
26:22they could have at least brought
26:24more than a couple of crowbars.
26:30We don't think Kevin's paint cans and tarantula
26:33would have fared well against a firearm.
26:35Seemingly having learned his lesson,
26:37Harry doesn't underestimate Kevin in the sequel
26:39and arms himself with a gun.
26:41Even then, however, he waits until the climax
26:43to pull it on Kevin.
26:45We feel like he could have taken his shot
26:47several other times that night.
27:00I've placed a weakness deep within the system,
27:03a flaw so small and powerful
27:05they will never find it.
27:06Rogue One finally cleared up why the Death Star
27:08had an exhaust vent leading to the reactor core,
27:11allowing the Rebels to destroy
27:13the space station in one shot.
27:20Nevertheless, it doesn't explain why the Empire
27:22makes a similar mistake in Return of the Jedi.
27:25To be fair, the Empire does fix the problem
27:27meaning the Rebels can only attack
27:29while the second Death Star is under construction.
27:32The Empire even builds a shield projector
27:34on Endor to keep the Rebels at bay.
27:42Since the reactor was the Death Star's
27:44Achilles heel last time, though,
27:46the Empire should have prioritized
27:48blocking off any possible entries.
27:50Instead, they add a giant pathway to the reactor,
27:53which arguably makes it easier
27:55than before.
28:07Use a Time Turner
28:08The Harry Potter franchise
28:10Voldemort takes numerous precautions
28:12to ensure his victory,
28:14even splitting his soul into several horcruxes.
28:17For someone who's always thinking ahead,
28:19stealing a Time Turner apparently
28:21never crossed his mind.
28:24Time Turners may be well-guarded
28:26by the Ministry of Magic,
28:27but we're sure the Death Eaters
28:29could have found a way to swipe one.
28:31Lucius Malfoy even got a job
28:33at the Ministry later down the line.
28:35If the Death Eaters had a Time Turner
28:37on hand back in 1981,
28:39they could have traveled back in time
28:41to save the Empire.
28:43The Empire's future depends on it.
28:45The Empire's future depends on it.
28:47The Empire's future depends on it.
28:49The Empire's future depends on it.
28:52they could have traveled back a couple of hours
28:54and prevented Voldemort's fateful encounter
28:56with baby Harry.
28:57Actually, there are a lot of instances
28:59where the villains, as well as our heroes,
29:01could have benefited from Time Turners.
29:04Too bad most of them got messed up in 1996.
29:17Backing Dorothy and her friends into a corner,
29:19the Wicked Witch prepares to set the Scarecrow ablaze.
29:22Dorothy puts out the flame with water,
29:24and the Witch gets caught in the crossfire.
29:30In a total deus ex machina,
29:32it turns out that H2O melts the Witch.
29:35So why did she have a bucket of water
29:37lying around the castle?
29:38We suppose that the Flying Monkeys
29:40and Winky Guards needed something
29:42to keep themselves hydrated,
29:43but this is the equivalent of Superman
29:45keeping Kryptonite lying around at home.
29:49I'm going!
29:50No!
29:52No!
29:54The Witch would have had a clear road to victory
29:56if she didn't stalk her one weakness.
29:58Let's just go by the Wicked mythology
30:00and assume that this was all part of Elphaba's plan
30:03to fake her death.

30:28This is such a common villain trope
30:29that we couldn't limit it to one movie.
30:38Tell us if this sounds familiar.
30:40A villain traps the hero
30:41with no clear escape route in sight.
30:43Rather than kill the hero
30:44while they're vulnerable,
30:45the baddie delivers a long-winded speech
30:47detailing their plan and or backstory.
30:50After they're done monologuing and gloating,
30:53the villain still doesn't kill the hero,
30:55wanting to torture them instead.
31:04In the event that the villain
31:05does try to kill the hero,
31:06they don't confirm that they're dead.
31:18This gives the hero more than enough time
31:20to break free and thwart the villain's plan.
31:23So many villains would have won
31:25if only they learned how to shut up,
31:27particularly the ones in James Bond movies.
31:32Did we forget another movie villain
31:34who screwed up their winning plan?
