00:00Josh Allen announced some happy engagement news, but a surprising comment from his ex
00:04took things in a brutal direction. But did she even write the controversial post?
00:08On November 29th, Josh Allen and actress Hailee Steinfeld took to Instagram to share their
00:13plans to wed. It took a lot of fans by surprise, in a good way. Comments on the post were mostly
00:17congratulatory with only a few sprinkles of well-meaning sarcasm. One user, who obviously
00:22had plans to woo Allen in the future, lamented,
00:25And devastated for myself, personally. Other people had the same thought, but for Steinfeld,
00:30writing,
00:31But the real question is, how did Allen's ex, Brittany Williams, take it?
00:37While she didn't comment on Allen and Steinfeld's joint post or make a post of her own, she
00:42did reply to one of the many trolls who poked at her after the engagement announcement.
00:46And the reply was hostile, to say the least. In response to a user who asked,
00:50Yeah, that's a pretty brutal retort, especially considering how serious the topic of CTE,
01:09or chronic traumatic encephalopathy, is in the sports realm. Allen, like many pro football
01:13players, has suffered his fair share of concussions over the course of his career, so it's shocking
01:17to see Williams be so flippant about the subject.
01:20According to her, though, it wasn't her that said it. Not long after screenshots of the
01:23comments started making the rounds, Williams took to her Instagram story to offer an explanation.
01:28She wrote,
01:29My accounts have been hacked several times tonight, trying to get it resolved. If anyone
01:32has any tips, please let me know.
01:35Is it believable that her account got hacked? Definitely. This happens all the time. Is
01:39it believable that she would feel some strong emotions after finding out that her ex, who
01:43she dated for a long while, is getting married so soon after their breakup? Also, yes.
01:48That's right, Williams and Josh Allen's relationship goes way back. As Williams noted on the Martinis
01:52and Bikinis podcast in February 2024,
01:55I was with my ex-boyfriend for on and off, like, 10 years, I would say.
02:01A decade is a pretty substantial amount of time, even if they occasionally took breaks.
02:05It's even more substantial when you factor in all the time they knew each other before
02:09they officially started dating. According to People, they've been in each other's lives
02:12since childhood.
02:14Despite all of this, though, Williams is apparently doing just fine. After confessing that it
02:18adjusting to the single life wasn't the easiest thing for her at first, she gushed about how
02:22she's been having the time of her life in New York City's dating scene. She said,
02:26It's so entertaining. It makes you realize everything that you want, and it makes you
02:31not settle for anything other than that.
02:34Taking that sentiment into consideration, it's definitely fair to give Williams the
02:37benefit of the doubt and believe her when she says that her account was hacked. Yes,
02:41the timing of everything is pretty conspicuous. It would be pretty easy to use the I-got-hacked
02:46excuse after suffering a temporary lapse in judgment. However, it already seemed like
02:50she'd moved on way back in February, so it's unlikely that she'd fall back into the emotional
02:55heartbreak stage months later, even after being shocked by a surprise engagement announcement.
03:00Plus, her heartless CTE comments would be pretty out of character, considering how far
03:04back her history with Allen goes. However, she may be feeling at the moment we wish her
03:08the best, just the same as we wish the best for Allen and Steinfeld.
