00:00A political crisis is brewing in South Korea following the declaration of martial law last night.
00:06In a televised briefing, South Korean President Yun Suk-yol said that martial law is needed to remove forces that are against the government and sympathize with North Korea.
00:19He did not mention a direct threat from North Korea.
00:23He accused the opposition that the parliamentary process was neglected in order to weaken the country.
00:29According to the South Korean media, the parliament was closed and the lawmakers could not enter.
00:35The martial law commando also declared that they have already held the media,
00:40the parliament and the parties are not allowed to intervene, and anyone who violates will be arrested even if there is no warrant.
00:47Last month, President Yun's rating dropped.
00:51The martial law declaration was condemned by the main opposition party held by the majority in the parliament.
00:57At some point, the opposition said that it plans to impeach the top prosecutors and that the government's budget was biased.
01:06According to the Commission on Filipinos Overseas, there are 16,774 Filipino migrants in South Korea.
