Ashely Academy, in South Shields, has unveiled its new dedicated outdoor space for its Early Years pupils.

00:00When I came to Ashleigh Academy, we didn't have an outdoor area, the children were very restricted in the space that we had, it wasn't there for the children to thrive.
00:08So we've had significant investment from the school and from Wise Academies to create such a wonderful space for the children to learn, to play, to redevelop the skills that they need within reception and school life.
00:21It's incredible. It really, really is.
00:23When you look at what the children used to have, they didn't have this area, they didn't have the opportunity to get out and develop those fine motor skills, they didn't have the opportunity to have physical development.
00:32Whereas you can see now, with the area, we've got everything in place to do so, and the children are really thriving, the staff love it, and so far we've had really positive feedback from the parents as well via our Facebook page.
00:44We're really proud that the school is investing in the children's future. The teachers have loved it. They can see where the school is going, how we want to take the school forward.
00:54Obviously we work with Wise Academies, they can see the significant investment we're putting in.
00:58But it's all for the children. This is all for the children to learn, and it now puts us on a path, if not the best outdoor area in South Shields, which is something we're really, really proud of.
