00:07foot at M Islamic Bank in Jalan Raja Culan, a location that was mentioned in the first
00:12charge he faced in the 2.28 billion ringgit One Malaysia Development Berhad graft trial.
00:19According to the first charge relating to abuse of power, Najib was accused of committing
00:24the offence at an M Islamic Bank Berhad branch in Jalan Raja Culan between February 24, 2011
00:32and December 19, 2014.
00:36Najib, who was reading from his 525-page witness statement, said that he was never asked by
00:43the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to explain about the alleged use of his position
00:49at M Islamic Bank during the material time.
00:52When asked by his lead counsel Tan Sri Mohammed Shafi Abdullah, Najib said he only heard
00:58about the offence being allegedly committed at the bank branch when the charge was read
01:04out to him in court.
01:06Najib is facing four counts of using his position to obtain 2.28 billion ringgit gratification
01:12from 1MDB's funds and 21 counts of money laundering involving the same amount.
01:18The hearing continues before Justice Colin Lawrence Sequeira on Tuesday.
