The Government admits up to 7,000 buildings with unsafe materials remain unidentified. Under a new plan, all high-rises over 18m with dangerous cladding will be fixed by 2029. Shadow Paymaster General Richard Holden criticised the timeline, calling five years "a very, very long time" and urging faster action, particularly against those involved in illegal practices before Grenfell. 00:00Five years is a very, very long time. I think what we want to see is some of the immediate response, actually,
00:07when it comes to some of those convictions that we've been talking about and those investigations.
00:10We need to see some more action there, particularly around those who did actually illegal stuff in the run-up to Grenfell.
00:18Look, more broadly, I obviously want to see things happen as quickly as possible.
00:22Five years, though, sounds like a very long time frame, given it's years since this has all happened already.
00:30Well, we've seen, actually, over the last few years, a proper investigation into what needs to happen
00:35and actually seen government money being put into replacing this cladding across the country.
00:42I just want to see that happen as quickly as possible.
00:44I just don't want to see people have to wait any longer than is absolutely necessary for that to happen.
