00:00Hello, thank you for having me today.
00:30Bridgestone's lunar tyre is specially designed intended for use on lunar rovers.
00:55These rovers are vehicles that will traverse the moon's surface, conducting scientific research and supporting human activities.
01:03The lunar environment poses unique challenges for tyre design, including extreme temperatures, vacuum conditions simply saying no air, and a surface covered with sandy regoless.
01:17For our tyres to work on those extreme conditions, we're developing the unique structure airless tyre made entirely by metal.
01:27Utilizing our knowledge cultivated for over 90 years of tyre development history, we're now taking on the challenge of developing innovative tyres that ensure the safety and peace of mind on the lunar surface.
01:41In 2019, Bridgestone announced to take part in an international space exploration mission together with Japanese space agency JAXA and Toyota, and we're now developing tyres for the crewed pressurized rover being developed by them.
02:11Thank you for watching!
02:41Yes.
03:11Yes.
03:41Well, uniqueness comes from diversity.
03:51The strong point of Bridgestone is being global and knowing the road conditions of the world, and also supporting the evolution of all kinds of mobility on Earth.
04:01We are guided by our mission of serving society with superior quality, and the basic principle that tyres carry life.
04:11The lunar tyres developed by Bridgestone feature a unique structure with metal spokes and segmented threads.
04:19There are two key technologies behind this design. The first is the optimal design technology for the metal spokes managed by structural simulations with our own physical and digital technology.
04:33The second is technology to control ground contact. For our lunar tyres, we use a unique approach based on biomimicry, meaning that we refer to the footpaths of camels that traverse deserts.
04:48By placing divided tread surfaces with soft metal-based felt material, we aim to increase the contact area and reduce sinking into the lunar surface.
05:00Providing safety and peace of mind in extreme environments and supporting space exploration is a great challenge for Bridgestone.

06:18We believe that investing in technology innovation is important. This is because developing technology in extreme environments such as lunar surface and applying that technology to tyres used on Earth can lead to further value creation, thereby contributing to society.
06:44We aim to become a company that keeps providing social value and customer value as a sustainable solutions company, which is our vision toward 2050.
06:55Furthermore, it is important to invest but also to co-create with various partners.
07:03Expanding the circle of partner and co-creation with partners will further accelerate innovation.
07:10Recently, we announced a collaboration with Astrobotic Technology, a US-based innovative aerospace company.
07:19Moving forward, we aim to increase such opportunities for collaboration.
