00:00Zagreb is one of the top tourist destinations in the region, and one that attracts hundreds of thousands from all around the world.
00:09The tourists mostly arrive here during the hot summer months.
00:13But when the weather is like this, most of the tourist agencies enter a slower season.
00:19Their luck, though, may be about to change.
00:22It is raining in Zagreb, but in months ahead, it will be a clear sky for the local tourist agencies.
00:29They are giving quite optimistic travel forecasts for tourists to China after the introduction of a visa-free regime for the Croatian citizens.
00:39It is busy in this tourist agency in Zagreb, as Croatians are looking for interesting and exotic destinations on a bargain.
00:47And with the introduction of visa-free travel, tourists to China are set to become more attractive,
00:53potentially drawing thousands of new visitors from Croatia.
00:57It will be much easier for our customers just to go without China visa.
01:04So we do expect a lot of China new destinations and more cities to visit from Croatia.
01:13And also there will be a part of the people that want to visit China and expand their businesses.
01:20Business people are also pleased about the move, as it will now allow them far easier personal contacts, which are key to any business deal.
01:29But analysts warn that the business travel situation is not as clear as in the tourism sector.
01:36Unused opportunities for economic cooperation between the two countries are actually very big.
01:42The policies of the current government, however, are subordinated to the goals imposed by Washington and Brussels.
01:49And they perceive China as a competitor. So for private companies, this will be a great opportunity.
01:55While for state-owned companies, it would depend on the state policy.
01:59This visa-free travel program will last until the end of 2025.
02:03That will give plenty of time for all parties to assess its benefits, which may go beyond just tourism.
