00:00Riven, you've done your first away game, you've done your first home game in the Europa League,
00:05what are you expecting from your first home Premier League match against Everton?
00:09Win, I'm hoping to win. It's going to be a different match with a lot of fighting,
00:17long balls, second balls, a quality coach that understands the league,
00:23understands the movement of the opponent.
00:27We need to have the ball because we have a short time to recover,
00:31we need to rotate the team.
00:33So I'm hoping for a win and I hope to see different things in my team improve
00:41like we did from Ipswich to now with Everton without training.
00:46But I expect to see different things and better things.
00:51I wanted to ask you about Diogo Delo,
00:54I've seen a big difference tonight, he was United's player of the season last season,
00:59what have you been looking forward to working with him?
01:02Can he be a big part of the system as a wing-back?
01:06Yeah, it's very powerful.
01:09We have to rotate him sometimes because he looks always fresh,
01:14but he's not like that, he's not a machine.
01:17I think he plays better on the right and we'll manage to put him on the right,
01:23but he's a very good player, very powerful, that can play both sides.
01:29Nowadays a player that can play both sides is perfect
01:34because you can put him in different positions.
01:37So I expect the same as last year that you saw.
01:42A great player that can help the team and he's really a team player
01:46and we feel it in every play, the way he leads the game,
01:49so it's very important for us.
01:52I think everyone understands you've got a difficult job coming in for the season.
01:57How can you compensate for the lack of time?
02:00I know you don't have much time, but can you maybe do double training sessions?
02:04Or more videos, is there any way you can speed up the process?
02:10I was a football player, football players' videos are more than 12 minutes.
02:14Forget, they will lose their concentration.
02:17So we have to work on, imagine there's an indoor stadium,
02:22we have that, instead of video we do it like walking and jogging,
02:28it's a way to do it, showing some videos.
02:32Then we have all the stuff that, for example, Carlos is with the strikers,
02:39they will show individual moments, so we'll try to cope with that.
02:43Everybody has a job in the staff and they are more important maybe than me.
02:50So that's it, trying to see the game, what is missing.
02:53They are very good players, they need to believe.
02:56And we will show individual stuff, team stuff and work.
03:01If you cannot run, you can jog and make the same exercise.
03:05Of course it's not the same, but you can manage to try to win time and to win games.
03:10Rob?
03:12Does this little gun sum up how tough it's going to be for you in these first few weeks?
03:16You've got no time to order players, you're asking them to take on a lot of new information.
03:20I know some of you are going to play against Everton who have had the entire week to prepare
03:24and look at how your team is playing.
03:27Yeah, it is what it is.
03:29And we will rotate players and we will be ready.
03:32Today we have to use four subs to manage the fitness, not the game.
03:41We managed the fitness today, so we have to do it.
03:44We already know that it will be like that, so no excuse.
03:50We should be ready for Sunday and we have to win.
03:53In terms of athleticism, you said you wanted to be better at it.
03:56Is it possible for a player in mid-season to be able to make that step?
04:00Without training, you have to use the games.
04:02I don't know because I have to see the game, but I felt that we press a little bit higher all the time.
04:09Maison Mount did 60 minutes with high intensity.
04:13Rasmus was dead in the end.
04:15The guys that are playing, they have to push more.
04:19Push the guys to the limit.
04:21And the other guys have to train tomorrow.
04:25Luke Shaw did some minutes and then he's going to train now because we are three days.
04:32We can do today some things that tomorrow we cannot do.
04:35And we'll manage with all the staff, trying to figure out some ideas to cope with that.
04:42Last two questions.
04:45Hi, Ruben.
04:46You mentioned Mason Mount there.
04:48The club invested a lot of money in him last summer, but for whatever reason it didn't work out for him last year.
04:54Have you seen enough promise from him in this couple of weeks that shows he can be a part of your team moving forward?
05:01First thing is he's working really hard.
05:04And then you have to understand the human also.
05:06He wants this really bad.
05:08And that is the most important thing.
05:11I think he proved to all of you that he's a talented player.
05:16He was European champion also.
05:19So we believe a lot in him.
05:21He has to stay fit.
05:24And like I said, all the guys in the team, they are quality players.
05:30They have to improve, believe in themselves.
05:32And today he did a great job.
05:34And you see some moments and details that you can see that Mason Mount is a proper footballer.
05:41So we believe a lot in him.
05:43I especially believe a lot in Mason Mount.
05:45Last question, Cal.
05:49You're using wing-backs throughout your managerial career, which is something I've traditionally used to see.
05:55Can you help explain what you necessarily want from your players when they're out in those wide positions?
06:00And how that might be different to what they might be used to seeing?
06:03Today, if I ask you guys what system I use, you saw more 4-4-4-2 defending, I think.
06:12I think we agree.
06:14And then we put two wide players, like the 20 teams of the league.
06:22But you have to change the characteristics.
06:26Dalot and Malassi are more defenders because they defend in the back four.
06:30Today, Ahmad and Anthony, they defend like a winger and stay open.
06:34So what I want is a good one-against-one to open the field, to play, to close the field when we lose the ball.
06:41So it's the same in every team.
06:43So I think the strategy is more fluid than you guys think, like three defenders.
06:50Today, we finished without any central back.
06:54So it was Casemiro, Masraoui and Luuk Schaal.
06:58So I think it's more the characteristics of the player and not the real position of the player.
07:04Thank you very much.
